COLUMBIA - A memorial service for Frann Houghton, 50, will be held at 2 o'clock on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church, 125 Sparkleberry Lane, Columbia SC with The Reverend Jack Heinsohn officiating. Shives Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Born July 13, 1960 in Bennettsville, South Carolina, she was the daughter of Bill Estes and the late Peggy Matheson Estes. Mrs. Houghton graduated from USC with a bachelor degree in Early Childhood Development. Her passion in life was her family and friends. She was truly a free spirit who ignored conventionality and always put others needs in front of hers.

Survivors include her husband, Rich Houghton; sons, Chase and Zack Houghton; sister, Jane Batson; brother, Billy Estes; and father, Bill Estes. She was preceded in death by her mother, Peggy Matheson Estes and sister, Barbara Padgett.

took place in Dallas at the residence of Mrs. James A. Brown, cousin of the bride.
A number of Dallas friends and relatives of the bride and groom were present at the
wedding, and Miss Iris Cone, sister of the groom, attended the wedding from Llano.
She went to Dallas with her brother on Monday's train. The married couple left
Dallas yesterday afternoon for Llano and are expected to arrive on the train at noon.
Miss Iris Cone will return with them. They will make Llano their future home. A
quiet dinner will be given them at the home of Mrs. Alice Dalyrymple today, and this
afternoon they will go to the ranch home of Jim Cone, where they will reside for the
time being. The bride was the daughter of Eugene Houghton, who resided in this
county before his death. She is also the niece of Mrs. Alice Dalyrymple and Mrs.
R.H. McInnis of Llano, Mrs. James Flack of San Saba, Mrs. E.L. Antony and Mrs.
E.C. McBride of Dallas, all of whom are well known in Llano. Her home has been in
Dallas, but she has been teaching school in Hemphill for the last four months. She
is well known in Llano, having visited here several weeks during the last summer,
and having previously visited here several times during the last 15 years..."1

Gracie Kay, 78, formerly of Bryan, entered into rest on June 26, 2011 at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas. Gracie was born September 27, 1932 in Hardin, Texas, the daughter of Roy and Mary (Reeves) Houghton. She was a member of the Plain Gospel Mission for over 40 years and traveled into Mexico for mission trips and at Christmas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Owen Billie Kay; a daughter, Gail Waskow; and a brother, Marcus Curry.

Survivors include her children; Connie Kay Cross & her husband, Ted of Arlington, Texas, Howard Kay & his wife Donna of Manor, Texas; sister, Lorene Olle of Austin; three grandchildren, Chris Glenn of College Station, Alyssa Smith of Buda, Texas, and John Kay of Kyle, Texas; three great granddaughters, Jolene Glenn, Emma Kay, and Adalyn Smith.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Gracie's special caregivers and neighbors, Joel and Rose Dupree of Buchanan Dam, who went above and beyond the definition of good neighbors.

who regret seeing them leave our town, but will wish for them abundant prosperity
in their new location in our sister town.”
