HOUGHTON, Harry Age 86, passed away peacefully at home on April 14, 2008. Harry was able to say goodbye to Olwyn ''Winnie'', his wife of 62 years, his children Michael and Carol, and grandsons David, Ben, Peter, and Patrick. Born in Yorkshire, England, on May 24, 1922, Harry served in the Royal Air Force repairing the electrical systems in planes. After WWII, Harry, Olwyn, and their son Michael moved to Ontario, Canada, where their daughter Carol was born. Following a brief two years in Texas the family came to California in 1961. Harry always said he wished he had come here first. After retiring as an electrician in 1988 from Stanford Linear Accelerator, Harry and his wife enjoyed traveling and spending summers at their cabin at Lake Tahoe. Always an early riser, he loved to watch the sun rise over the mountain at their cabin. Harry loved animals, reading, doing household repairs, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a quiet man, and those who knew him enjoyed his dry sense of British humor. The family would like to thank Snowline Hospice for its caring support.¹

MARYDEL - Margaret Houghton Delaplain, age 91, of Marydel, departed this world on the evening of June 1, 2009, at her residence.

Margaret was born on Long Island, N.Y., where she had lived for over 50 years and had graduated St. Agnes Academy and Mary Immaculate School of Nursing where she earned her N.Y. state RN license in 1938. After four years at Mary Immaculate Hospital she left to become office nurse for a prominent pediatrician.

In August 1944, at St. Mary's Church on Long Island, Margaret married Francis XA Delaplain at a Nuptial Mass celebrated by her cousin, Msg. Charles Diviney. After a brief honeymoon at the Hampshire House in Central Park, her husband returned to active duty in the U.S. Navy. After the war, the Delaplains lived on Long Island where they raised five children. In 1971 Mr. Delaplain was transferred to Universal Studios in California where they remained in the Hollywood area until retirement, moving to Carlsbad, CA in 1977.

In 1986 Margaret & 'Derry' returned to the east coast to be with children and grandchildren. Margaret found her greatest joy in her family and dear friends. The memory of her gracious and generous spirit will forever remain with those who knew and loved her.

Margaret was preceded in death by 'Derry', her husband of 65 years who passed away on May 24 of this year; her parents, Charles and Katherine Houghton; her sister, Sister Charles Florian OP; and two sons, Gerard and Mark.

She is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Irene and Richard Biscayart of Lewes, Katherine and James Buerge of Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada, Mary Ann and Michael Bowers of Marydel; one son and his spouse Frank and Julie Delaplain of Juneau, Alaska; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 4, at Holy Cross Church S. State St., Dover. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.

Donations in her memory may be forwarded to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy. Dover, DE 19901. Arrangements are by Michael J. Ambruso Funeral Director, Inc., Dover. Condolences may be forwarded via www.ambruso.com¹
