Survivors: Daughter, Janet Gillett of Walnut Creek; son, Thomas R. Gillett Jr. of Hillsborough; sisters, Betty Gabriel of Oceanside and Milly Reed of Corning; and one grandchild. Her husband, Thomas, died in 1986.

Francis ";Frank" Robert Houghton passed away at his ranch July 13, 2006.

Frank was born June 10, 1918 at the Houghton ranch just west of Corning, California to James and Hattie Newcomer Houghton. He was born in the same house as his father James, and his grandfather Oscar Houghton, in the original home of his great grand parents Francis and Grace Williams Houghton. Frank rented the ranch from his grandparents Oscar and Nannie Flourney Houghton from 1940 - 1960.

Frank married his wife Jeri, July 31, 1954 in Reno, Nevada. Frank and Jeri purchased their ranch in Montague in 1958. Frank was a breeder of Angus cattle, with a closed herd for over forty years. He raised his own hay as well as grain crops. Frank was a member of the local Farm Bureau and cattleman's association. He was also a 4-H leader when his children were young.

Frank is survived by his wife Jeri, daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Dan Baker of Medford, OR, son, Rex Houghton and companion Michol Ann of Montague, CA, grandson and his wife, Joshua and Ya Hui Baker of Arlington, VA, grandson, Jonathan Baker of Medford, OR, along with a sister, Dorothy Ruff of Rio Dell, CA.

Frank was preceded in death by his sister Marjorie Smith.

Graveside services for Frank will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at 10:00 AM at the Corning Cemetery.4
