Valley Falls, KS, USA, Albert "Hoot" D. Houghton Jr., 66, Topeka, died June 16, 1993, at his home. Mr. Houghton was a truck tire builder for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for 30 years before he retired in 1983. He also served in the Army in Germany.
He was born March 17, 1928, in Lyon County, the son of Albert W. and Mary K. Volz Houghton. He grew up on a farm and attended Lyon County schools. He moved to Topeka in 1952. Mr. Houghton was a past member of the Topeka Gun Club.
He was married to Preida N. Blevins-Mansfield Oct. 12,1957, in Independence, Mo. She died April 16, 1988. Survivors include three daughters, Verna Diven, Kathy Hobart, and LeeAnne Skinner, all of Topeka; three sons, Michael Houghton, Tommy Mansfield, and Patrick Houghton, all of Topeka; his mother, Mary Volz- Rowe, Kansas City; two brothers, Edward Houghton, Ozawkie, and Richard Houghton, Tonganoxie; two sisters, Alice Johanning, Lawrence, and Marlene Haynes, Kansas City; 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were June 19 in Pen well- Gabel Chapel, Topeka. Burial was at West Lawn Memorial Gardens where military graveside honors were conducted by Philip Billard Post No. 1660 of the American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care, 1272 S.W. Fillmore, Topeka, 66604-1167.

Richard C. Houghton, 82, rural Erie, died Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at Labette Health. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Houghton, on Dec. 22, 2000.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. The family will hold private committal services at East Hill Cemetery in Erie.

Ofie Kite Houghton Services Held Here
Funeral services for Mrs, Ofie Kate Houghton, 85, and long time resident of Spearfish, was held at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rodney Gist officiating.
Mrs. Houghton was born Dec. 2, 1887 in Norton, Kan., the daughter of Loring and Mary Ann Lesh. She has lived in Spearfish for 35 years.
Survivors include a son, Sidney Nicholas, Tucson, Ariz; four daugh- ters, Mrs. Norma Drew Bross of Redding, Calif., Mrs. Louis (Lorna Lou) Jensen of Spearfish, Mrs. Ed win Ayer. San Alsemo, Calif., and Mrs. Ralph (Mary Pauline) Jarrett, New Carlisle, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. F. A. Greer, Davis, Calif., and Mrs. Osie L. Conwell, Norton, Kan; two brothers, Loring J. Lesh, Norton, and Paul Louis Lesh, Beatrice, Neb; also 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grand- children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Houghton, and three brothers, Lawrence, Lando and Landsford Lesh.
Burial was in Rosehill cemetery under direction of Fidler Funeral Chapel.
