ALBANY -- Ruth A. Houghton, 88, formerly of Yates St., died Friday, July 16, 2004 at the Albany County Nursing Home. Born and educated in Albany, she was daughter of the late Preston H. Carhart Sr. and Gertrude Miller Carhart. She was wife of the late George Houghton. A lifelong resident of Albany, in her earlier years Ruth was employed by W.T. Grants in Albany. She was a member of the Madison Ave. Baptist Church. She is survived by her sister, Helen Bennett and husband Ralph of Waterford. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by her brothers, Preston Carhart Jr. and Frederick Carhart. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at 12:00 noon at the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rt. 32), Waterford, N.Y. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m.-12:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands. Memorial contributions may be to St. Peter's Hospice, 315 So. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.¹
