She was born June 5,1918, in Spartanburg, S.C. She lived in Detroit, Mich., before moving to Ramona. She had been a homemaker and also employed at the Pine Hills Egg Ranch in Ramona for 10 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Penny J. Hopkins of Ramona; son Frank A. Houghton of Campbell, Calif; sister Nancy White of Detroit; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Kenneth "Joe" Houghton, 53, died Wednesday of leukemia at Hemet Valley Medical Center.

Private services are planned. Inurnment will be at San Jacinto Valley Cemetery. Miller-Jones Mortuary in Hemet is handling cremation arrangements.

Mr. Houghton, who was born in Los Angeles, lived in Hemet for 26 years. He was a cement finisher in residential construction for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; six daughters, Sharon Jones of Hemet, Gail Sepulveda of San Jacinto, Tracey Johnson of Mesquite, Nev., and Sharon Vittoni, Suzie Heath and Sandie Watkins, all of Salem, Ore; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six sisters, Shirley Hilbrands, Jean Morris and Peggy Barton, all of Hemet, Pauline Veenendaal of Ontario, Sandie Taylor of Gold Hill, Ore., and Mary Jacobs of Lake Havasu, Ariz; and his mother, Mamie of San Jacinto.

The family suggests donations to the City of Hope Medical Center, 1500 E. Durante Road, Duarte, Calif. 91010.
