Reginald A. Houghton, 78, 133 Main St., Blakely, died Wednes day at Mid-Valley Hospital alt- er undergoing surgery. A prominent Mid-Valley fig- ure, Mr. Houghton was born in Jermyn and resided in Blake- ly many years. He was a mem- ber of St. James Episcopal Church, Jermyn, and later at- tended St. George’s Episcopal Church, Olyphant. A World War I veteran, he was a mémber of Raymond Henry Post, American Legion, Olyphant. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Auro ra Lodge, Free & Accepted Ma- sons, Jermyn. He received his 50-year Masonic pin in 1964 He was a former director and vice president of the Mid-Valley Community Chest, and was an active worker in the Boy Scouts and the Civil Defense programs. A retired Glen Alden Coal Co. worker, he held the post of paymaster and transfer agent for many years.
Mr. Houghton was the hus- band of the late Miss Edna Hull Houghton of Blakely. His brother was the late Rev. Dr. 1 F. P. Houghton, former rector of St. Luke’s Church, Scranton, and the Church of Epiphany, Glenburn.
Survivors include three sons, William, Boston, Mass; James, Glens Falls, N.Y., and Thomas, Royal Oak, Mich; a daughter, Mrs. Louise Marrotte, Cleve- land, Ohio, and eight grand- children.

He was a member of the Cape Coral Christian Church, the Cape Coral Power Squadron, a past master of Madison Lodge 196 F & AM, and was a past patron of Eastern Star Chapter 350, both of Madison, Kan.
He Is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hetty Lee Haughton of Cape Coral; his father, Adam Haughton of Madison, Kan., and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Gasche of Hartford, Kan.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the chapel of the Metz Funeral Home of Cape Coral with John C. O'Bannon, chaplain of the Sunland Center of Fort Myers, officiating.
Fraternal graveside service will be conducted by Cape Coral Lodge 367 F & AM. Burial will be at Coral Ridge Cemetery.
