HOUGHTON, WILLIAM H., 82, of Franklin, N.C., and formerly of St. Petersburg, died Sunday (May 28, 1995) in Franklin. Born in Mulberry, he lived here for 34 years before moving to Franklin in 1981. He retired in 1973 from the U.S. Postal Service, St. Petersburg, and was foster parent, with his wife, to 107 children over 15 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a life member of DAV and vice commander of the American Legion post in Largo. He belonged to Star Lodge 76, F&AM, Largo, and was a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ouida S; a son, William T., Navarre, Ohio; a daughter, Mary Margaret Shuler, Franklin; and six grandchildren. Macon Funeral Home, Franklin, N.C. HOUGHTON Charles H. Houghton, Jr., 86, passed away May 19, 2002. The Jacksonville native was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII. Mr. Houghton was a longtime resident of the Riverview community where he was a member of Riverview United Methodist Church and had retired from W. W. Gay Co. where he worked as a plumber. He was a member of the Riverview Masonic Lodge, Morocco Temple, and the Scottish Rite. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Amanda E. Houghton; a son, Charles F. Houghton; five grandchildren, Greg Houghton, Jennifer Houghton, Sela Mogren, Mandy Barton, and Mary E. Pressgrove; and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services with Masonic Rites will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at 10:00 A.M. at the chapel of COREY-KERLIN FUNERAL HOME, 1426 Rowe Ave. Interment will follow at Edgewood Cemetery.
