Deceased Name: OBITUARY Warren Houghton, retired major, of Squantum, 92
Warren E. Houghton of Squantum, a World War II veteran and retired major in the Air Force Reserve, died Tuesday at Quincy Medical Center. He was 92.

Born in Minneapolis, Mr. Houghton moved to Brockton and graduated from Brockton High School in 1934. He was a resident of Squantum for 62 years.

Mr. Houghton graduated from Boston University's College of Business Administration, majoring in accounting and finance.

He entered World War II as a private and was promoted to captain in the Army Air Forces, and served as a staff officer in charge of supervising base supplies. After the war, Mr. Houghton went on to complete 20 years of additional service and retired as a major in the Air Force Reserve.

He was a stockbroker with the New York Stock Exchange for Southgate & Co. in Boston. Later, he was a comptroller for Ford Motor Co. Mr. Houghton also was chief accountant for the Massachusetts State Lottery Commision before he retired in 1991.

He helped form Boy Scout Troop 24 and enjoyed camping with the scouts. Mr. Houghton was an original member of the 1st Parish Council of Star of the Sea Church.

He enjoyed ice-skating, swimming and boating at Orchard Beach. Mr. Houghton loved taking walks and long bike rides with his wife of 65 years. He also enjoyed speaking with people across the globe using his ham radio.

He is survived by his wife, Mary M. (Dornan); two sons, Richard D. and Donald M., both of Quincy; two sisters, June Sullivan of Rockport and Marjorie Hopkins of Milton; ; four grandchildren, a great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Church, Quincy.

Burial will be in Milton Cemetery, Milton.

Arrangements by Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy.
