Polly Eastman, on 17 June 1852 in Union, Rock County, Wisconsin. [Janes-Peek, page 225; Rock County Genealogical Society Newsletter, Vol. 21, Issue 4, March/April 1998, page 44; Janes, page 361, apparently gives the date of their marriage incorrectly as 15 November 1851]
Their Rock County, Wisconsin, marriage certificate reads: "Be it Remembered that on the 17th day of June A.D., 1852 in the Town of Union that Chester Janes of Union and wife Mary Jane Deremer of Magnolia were with their mutual consent legally joined together in matrimony which was solemnized by me in the Presence of Hial Eastman of Magnolia and James Deremer of Union, attending witnesses having been first satisfied by the oath of Mr. Chester Janes duly administered by me that there was no legal impediment to such marriage.

Mrs MaryJanes died Wednesday afternoon at 4 o’clock, aged 79 years and
six months. Mary DeRemer Janes was born in Montgomery county, NY, Jan 9,
1829. At the age of twelve years she came with her parents and other members
of the family to Wisconsin, first settling on a farm near Delavan. About two years later her father moved onto a
farm now owned by Lew Spencer southwest of Evansville. She was married in 1851 to Chester Janes, and lived with
her husband on a farm in Magnolia until 1885, when they moved to this city. Her body was interred on at in Maple Hill Cemetery, Evansville, Rock County, Wisconsin. [Chester Newton, page 1].
