Euran (Uran) Hamilton⁶ Hobbs (.Abigail⁵ Hamilton, Benjamin? Benjamin,³ Abel? David¹), son of Rev. Henry and Abigail⁵ (Hamilton) Hobbs, was bora at Water- borough, Maine, April 28, 1811. He took his name Euran from his grandmother, Abigail Urin who was a descendant of William Urin, sometimes spelled Uran, Urann, Uren, Yuran, Yourin and Youring, who was first known on the Isles of Shoals in 1653. Some of the descendants of this William Urin lived at Waterborough.
Euran H. Hobbs was a farmer, also a schoolteacher. He served upon the school committee and in various other offices in the town of Waterborough.
He married first, April 19, 1835, Sarah Benson, who died at Waterborough, June 7, 1854; and secondly, March 4, 1855, Lydia Patten of Waterborough, born October 16, 1823, died May 10, 1902. He died at Waterborough, August 12, 1881.
Children by first wife, all born at Waterborough: i. Mary Abbie,⁷ h. Jan. 81, 1886; d. unmarried at Waterborough, Oct. 21, 1858.. ii. Joseph Ambros, b Dec. 23, 1837.

Jeffrey Alan Houghton, his descendant: Wirksworth Derbyshire -- it is a small, pretty village set in the hills and lead has been mined there since Roman times. pre 1645, if connected to Hoghton, lancashire not so far. However, Wirksworth at the the time has to been in the setting our our Civial war , bitter and in perctage terms more lost more people than the American Civil . Wirksworth was lead producing and very important to the economy, and therefore not in the interest of either side to upset that immediate area. Elsewhere was not so lucky, armies marcher East or West of the Peak district.Hoghton Tower (Castle) has been sequestered by the Parliamentary forces , and rather suspect with the family split, that the one took refuge in Wirksworth. It is still unspoiled, and on our first visit to Wirksworth last August stayed at what had been the home of the Arkwright family, who started the industrial revulution, in England and the world. Mile or so down the road. He was also friends with Lady Devonshire, wink wink.
