Note2020Julianne Kaufman,2020: I originally was told by my mother, Harriet, whose father was Harold “Henry” Nathan Houghton. Sadly, my mother lost her mother during childbirth. Harold adopted out my mother to a local family. My mother did know her siblings and conversed occasionally as far as I know. I don’t know if she ever spoke with her biological father. She did know the family history to a large degree, mostly I assume by aunts, I believe, who were twin sisters who lived in Lunenburg, MA. I met them when I was a young girl. I have in my possession a letter from one of the ladies who wrote down the ancestors so that my mother could join the American Daughters of the Revolution.

I am new to genealogy and have learned as I go along. My greatest weakness is constructing a family tree. I’m pretty good at research even without joining Ancestry.com or other document sites yet.

I don’t know if any of this is of interest to you but I thought I would put it out there. I’ve yet to read all of your site but so far I am most impressed and love learning the Houghton history.
