Funeral services for Byrel (Bill) Houghton, 50, of 531 Austin st., who died Sunday, will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Conger - Morris Funeral home. The Rev. John of St. Marks Episcopal church will officiate. Committal will be in Memory Gardens Memorial park with Medford IOOF Lodge officiating at the graveside. Mr. Houghton was born Aug. 28, 1908, at Walkerville, Mich.

Houghton, Milo "Mike" Mr. Milo "Mike" Houghton of Cedar Springs, Michigan, age 91, passed away on the morning of Friday, October 7, 2016, and rests now with his Lord and Savior. Mike is survived by his beloved wife of almost sixty-six years, Dorothy June (Wesche); children Christine (Bob) Barnes, Susan Johnson, Michael Houghton, and Sharon (Mike) Lopez; grandchildren Ryan (Heather) Ward, Mary (Brandon Gohsman) Hyzer, Angel Lopez, and Kelsey Houghton; and four great grandchildren. There will be a time of visitation from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at Pederson Funeral Home, 127 N. Monroe Street NE, Rockford, MI 49341. The funeral service for Mike will be celebrated by Pastor Bruce Wilson at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Pederson Funeral Home. There will be a one-hour visitation prior to the service. Under the auspices of the Kent County Veteran's Honor Guard and the United States Navy, full military honors will be presented. Research

Asa Houghton's father, who supposedly settled in Haldimand Township, Northumberland County, CW. According to a Houghton bible Asa was born in Vermont in 1800, I have been able to confirm this with the information passed between you, Linda, and some of the later census records say the father or grandfather (Asa) was born in Vermont. I have not been able to find any early records of a Houghton in either Haldimand or Cramahe townships, but Asa did marry a Rebecca Conklin whose father I found in the 1803 and later Cramahe township census returns.
