In tribute to its 590 war dead, the 307th Infantry, 77th (New York) Division, will hold memorial services at 3 P. M. Sunday in Regimental Grove, at the east side of the Mall, Central Park, it was announced today by Lieut.-Col. Crawford BLAGDEN, commanding the 307th, now a unit of the Army Reserve. Decoration of the regiment's battle colors with official streamers awarded by the War Department for engagements in France will be a feature of the exercises. Manhattan Park Commissioner HERRICK, Col. E. A. HOUGHTON, Col. BLAGDEN and Chaplain B. A. TINTNER will be among the speakers. The regular army band of
the 18th U. S. Infantry will come from Fort Hamilton to participate. The regiment's World War record includes capture of Grand Pre, following fighting in the Argonne forest and participation in the engagements around Mervia, Revillon and La Petite Montagne in the Oise-Aisne offensive.¹

As discovered by Don Stone, William Walter Durkee was living in Kellogg, ID, when he was married to Marcia Parlin, divorced wife of Joseph N. Thornburn (Thornbrue), on Sept. 2, 1896. Marcia had a four year old daughter, Lillian, who seems to have been accepted by Walter as his own. Marcia and Walter had three children together: Howard Liffler, born Jan 30, 1899, Ina M., born April 25, 1902 and Carol Bert, born Sept. 20, 1904.
This marriage ended in divorce in 1908. Marcia and the children moved to Seattle. Both Marcia and Lillian worked to support the family. Howard was killed in an auto accident in Everett, WA, on July 26, 1917. Ina was a promising violinist and played with the symphony in Seattle.
Marcia married James H. Douglas Nov. 29, 1913 in Seattle, but the marriage was a short one. After only one year, Marcia returned to the use of the Durkee name.
About 1928 Marcia and her family moved to Los Angeles, CA. She died ther April 4, 1929. This information was given by Lillian Meyers.
Son Carol was a postal worker in Los Angeles, CA.
Marcia's second husband, Walter Durkee remarried in Plains, MT. He died Aug. 8, 1951 and is buried in Kellogg, ID.

His daughters are Mrs. Viola Stewart of Clarkston, Lillian T. Thornbrue, Seattle; and his son, Carl Thornbrue, Spokane. Funeral services were held at Merchant's Chapel, Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. J. D. Lewellen, of Asotin, officiating.
