Henry T. Houghton. 86. of 607 W Jefferson, a retired construction worker with Cities Service Oil Co., died at 12 59 p m. Friday at Brokaw Hospital.
His funeral will be at 1 p m Saturday at Beck Memorial Home, the Rev. William Leppin officiating Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was bom Sept 30, 1889. in Herndon, Iowa, a son of Wesley S. and Lucy E Taylor Houghton He married Clara E. Lynan Feb 19, 1911, in Stuart. Iowa She died Dec. 20, 1974
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs Josephine Flood, Sioux Falls. S.D; a brother. Warren. Omaha. Neb; a sister. Mrs. Carolyn Fouquette, Coronado. Calif ; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren
A son preceded him in death. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and the Bloomington Consistory

Sprague st., a retired Homer furnace salesman, and the husband of a local art instructor here, died at the Community Health Center here Tuesday afternoon following a long illness. He had lived in Coldwater since 1940, coming here from Detroit, where he was past master of the Friendship Lodge, No. 417, F&AM, the Temple Chapter of Coldwater, the Mt. Moriah Council No. 6. and past commander of the Jacob's Commandry, Knights Templar; Moslem Shrine of Detroit and the Branch County Shrine Club. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Bon Ami Club of Coldwater. He was a salesman for the Homer Furnace Co. for 25 years, retiring in 1958. He was born in Chicago. On Sept. 18, 1915, he married Hazel Brown in Grand Rapids. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. James R. (Jean) Lampman of Syracuse, N. Y; two grandsons; and a sister, Miss Laura Houghton of Chicago.

Mr Houghton, a graduate of Armour Tech (now the Illinois Institute * of Technology) in 1906, was at one time the village engineer for Riverside and River Forest.
He was a 50-year Mason, a life member of Medinah Shrine and a member of the Christian Science Church of Berwyn, as well as the Berwyn Senior Citizens and Golden Agers
His body was donated to the Demonstrator’s Society of Illinois for science. In line with his wishes, there were no services.

Biography"Harry J. HOUGHTON, the proprietor of a well appointed undertaking establishment of Georgetown was born in Dana, indiana 28 oct 1884, his parents being Elijah and Mary (Jaggers) Houghton. The father's birth occurred in Montezuma, IN 1850, while mother first opened her eyes to the light of day in Dana in 1853. Elijah Houghton devoted his attention to general agricultural pursuits throughout his entire business career and passed away in 1888. His widow still survives and makes her home on a farm near Dana. Harry J. Houghton acquired his education in the grammar and high schools of Dana in 1905 became connected with the undertaking business at Knoxville, Illinois, there remaining about one year. He was afterward similarly engaged in Chicago and various other points in Illinois until 1908 which year witnessed his arrival in Georgetown. Here he embarked in business as an undertaker on his own account and has since conducted a success!
ul enterprise of this character. He carries a fine line of caskets and funeral supplies and a liberal patronage is accorded him, for his prices are reasonable and his integrity is above question. ON the third day of June, 1908 at Sidell, illinois, Mr. Houghton was joined in wedlock to Miss Mary B. Moore, who was born, reared and educated at that place. They now have a daughter, Frances whose natal day was September 18, 1909. Mr. Houghton belongs to the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, the Knights of Pythias, the Modern Woodmen of America and the Masons at Georgetown and is likewise a member of the Court of Honor at Quaker, Indiana."2
