Phyllis was born March 7, 1919, in Wayne County, Mich., to the late George John Wagner and the late Maude May McDonald Wagner. She was also preceded in death by husbands John Robert Gore and John "Jack" Houghton.

She is survived by sons John Lawton Gore and wife Jean of Conyers, Ga, Randall "Randy" Gore and wife Colean of Bahama, N.C., and David Wagner Gore and wife Jan of Landis; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 24 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. A graveside service officiated by Rev. John T. Bryant will follow at 1 p.m. at Stanly Gardens of Memory, 2001 E. Main St., Albemarle.

Memorials: May be made to American Cancer Society , 1901 Brunswick Ave., Charlotte, NC 28207.

James Sherrod, 82, of Columbus, GA. died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Vista Care Center at Franciscan Woods.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 10, 2011 in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, GA. 31907 with Reverend Hank Reeves officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Sherrod was born in Stewart County, Georgia on September 25, 1928 to the late James Sherrod, Sr. and Jimmie Rosa Lee Hill Sherrod. He has lived in Columbus all of his life and was retired from Newman Construction Company where he worked as the Office/Project Manager for many years. He served as Past President of the Columbus Exchange Club and Past President of the District Exchange Club. Mr. Sherrod served as Vice Chairman of the Columbus Better Government Association.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy H. Sherrod of Columbus; a daughter, Karen Marie Floyd of Smyrna, GA; three sons, Anthony James Sherrod of Sedonia, AZ, Donald Allen Sherrod of Columbus and Dr. Michael Joseph Sherrod and wife, Mariella of Wilton, ME; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Tabb of Phenix City, AL; and several nieces and nephews.

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our daughter, mother and grandmother. Linda will be deeply missed by her husband of 35 years William 'Bill'; children William Jr., Wendy, Tanya, Joshua, Matthew and special daughter Madison; grandchildren Talisia, Rachel, Andrew and Steven; mother Violet Nahanee; and brothers Donald 'Onsie', Kenny (Janet), Eddy (Samantha); and sisters Sarah (Tony), Judy (Steven) and Vickie (Joe). Linda is remembered for volunteering at the Squamish Nation pow-wow for many years. Her dedication to family and relatives involved traveling to local and distant events and she truly is an inspiration to those who practice our beliefs and customs.
