Leslie L. Houghton, 90, of Elgin, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at Rosewood Care Center, St. Charles, IL. He was born on February 26, 1918 in Hebron, IL the son of Lewellyn and Olive (Schroeder) Houghton. Les was a Veteran, and served in the US Air force during WWII.He owned and operated Local Sheet Metal Heating & Air Conditioning in East Dundee, IL for many years prior to his retirement. After retirement, along with his wife, Myrtice, wintered in Mesa, AZ, for over 25 years and enjoyed the company of numerous family and friends. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Elgin, for more than 50 years, volunteering his time with the Soup Kitchen, Maintenance Crew, tending the church flower beds, and various activities.

Les also was a member of the American Legion Post # 57 and VFW Post # 1306.Survivors include his two daughters, Cheryl (Paul) Tombaugh of Woodstock, IL and
Katyn (John) Suppes of Longmont, CO.Two grand-daughters, Kristin and Tricia Tombaugh of Rockford, IL; and many other family and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; also his wife, Myrtice in 2006; two brothers, Ray and Art Houghton; and a sister, Margaret Grabbert.Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 24, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the First United Methodist Church, Elgin. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 23, 2008 from 3-6:00 P.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 South State Street, (Route 31), Elgin IL 60123, 847-741-8800, and on Monday at the church from 10:15 A.M. until the time of services.⁶

ELGIN – Myrtice L. Houghton, 81, of Elgin, died Thursday, April 13, 2006, at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
She was born May 27, 1924, in Loyalton, S.D., to Oscar and Anna (Loveland) Fredrickson. On Oct. 9, 1943, she married Leslie "Les" Houghton.
She and her husband owned and operated Local Sheet Metal and Heating in East Dundee. She also worked as an executive secretary at Spotnails in Rolling Meadows before her retirement.
For many years, she enjoyed friends and family in Val Vista Village in Mesa, Ariz.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Elgin.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Cheryl (Paul) Tombaugh of Woodstock and Karyn (John) Suppes of Longmont, Colo; two granddaughters, Kristin and Tricia Tombaugh of Rockford; four brothers, Clyde (Agnes), Denys (Marjorie), Roy (Gen) and Dale (Leann) Fredrickson; a sister, Ardyce Buntrock; a sister-in-law, Norma Fredrickson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Wayne and Lyle Fredrickson.
The visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 17, at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin. The visitation will continue from 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, until the funeral at noon at First United Methodist Church, 216 E. Highland Ave., Elgin. The Rev. Daniel Schenck will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park in Elgin.³
