Elliot Greene, Ancestry.com: I believe your wife's paternal great uncle, Howard Hale Uran had a second wife, Clara "Olga" Desmare, who had a sister, Kinta Desmare Di Carpegna, who was married to a phony Italian count and the Merrill from the Merrill-Lynch brokerage. These obits are from the Times Picayune, New Orleans, his from Friday, October 10, 1969, on page 22. She must have been quite a character. Kinta Desmare first married Charles Edward Merrill in Pensacola, Fl., of New York, Southampton, and Palm Beach, Florida. They were divorced in 1952 in Florida. No children were born from this marriage. She next married S. Whitney DeRham of New York City and South Hampton, Long Island, NY. They were divorced. No children. She then married "Count" Alfred Gabriell Di Carpegna, a widower, in New York City. He was born 09 DEC 1898 in Torino, Torino, Italy. No children from this marriage. COUNT DI CARPEGNA. Count Alfredo Gabrielll Di Carpegna of Southampton, Long Island, on Thursday, October 9, 1969. Beloved husband of Countess Kinta de Mare (sic), father of Guido Di Carpegna of Rome Italy, brother of Martina Borea d'Olmo. Also survived by 3 grandchildren. Reposing at the Brockett Funeral Home, 263 Hampton Road, Southampton, Long Island, NY. Requiem Mass Saturday, October 11, 1969 at the Sacred Heart R.C. Church at 11 a.m. Interment Rome, Italy." Whether this man was ever an actual "Count" is unknown. He wasn't. There really is a noble Di Carpegna family, but their official line doesn't include Alfredo Gabrielli.
