Obituary

Mildred "Millie" Lee Barr, age 72, of Front Royal passed away on Monday, May 3, 2010 at Winchester Medical Center.

A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home with Reverend Kitty Hahn officiating. Interment will follow in Panorama Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Barr was born in Warren County on February 6, 1938, a daughter of the late Elwood Bernie "Pete" Houghton and Ella Mae Ramey. She was a member of the Rivermont Baptist Church. She worked as a server for the Wayside Inn in Middletown for 25 years. Mrs. Barr was a loving, caring and supportive wife who was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Barr is survived by her husband of 55 years, William B. Barr; one son, John Barr and wife Peggy of Yorktown; four daughters, Barbara Barr Greene and husband Scott, Bonnie Judy, all of Front Royal, Patricia Barr Thompson of Manassas and Donna Booth and husband Tom, also of Front Royal; one brother, Larry Houghton of Woodstock; 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, "Millie", was preceded in death by her brothers, Elwood and Oliver; and six sisters; Ester, Virginia, Margaret, Elizabeth Ann, Barbara Jean, and Dorothy.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Michael Barr, Justin Thompson, Jimmy Judy, Zachary Judy, Paul Barr, Brandon Greene, Joseph Barr and William Barr.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

VA, USA, Larry Steven Houghton, 60, of Mt. Jackson, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 2 at 11 a.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Mt. Jackson with the Elder Gerald Dulaney officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Jackson Cemetery.

Mr. Houghton was born December 12, 1949 in Warren County, son of the late Bernie "Pete" Houghton and Ella Ray Ramey Houghton.

He was a retired carpenter who enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends. He served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He had firm religious beliefs and was a loving, devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Mr. Houghton is survived by his wife of 34 years, Doris Houghton; a son, Pete Houghton of Woodstock; four daughters, Christine Presgraves of Quicksburg, Linda Weeks of Strasburg, Angela Houghton and Amanda Houghton both of Mt. Jackson; a brother, Thomas Miller of Strasburg; and seven grandchildren, Melissa, Brittany and Kristan Ketterman, Nicholas Houghton and Robert, Matthew and Joshua Weeks.

In addition to his parents Mr. Houghton was preceded in death by his brothers, Elwood and Oliver; and seven sisters, Ester, Margaret, Elizabeth, Virginia, Dorothy, Barbara and Mildred.

Pallbearers will be James Andrews, John Houghton, Jake Houghton, Howard Miller, Alton Whitted and Heath Whitted. Honorary pallbearers will be George Fincham and Scott Presgraves. Military Honors by Strasburg American Legion Honor Guard Post #77.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
