MARY V. (nee Strain), age 93, formerly of Rehoboth Beach died on Friday, Oct. 27, 2006 at The Manor Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Houghton was a homemaker, a graduate of Villanova University and a former member of St. Edmond's Catholic Church in Rehoboth Beach. Her husband, James T. Houghton, died in 1995. Mary is survived by her sisters, Ada Smith and Bess Albright, both of PA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thurs., Nov. 2, 2006 at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Catholic Church, 10 Old Church Rd, Greenville DE 19807 at 10 A.M. Friends may call at the Church after 9 A.M. Burial will be in the Lower Church Cemetery. ObituaryMay 31, 2017Miami, FL, USA, HOUGHTON, RAE TRAPOLINO Rae T. Houghton, of Pinecrest, FL, passed away peacefully in her home on May 28. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and teacher. Her vibrant personality, humor, and kindness was apparent to so many whose lives she touched in the 40+ years she lived in South Florida. Rae was predeceased by her husband, Jonathan. Together they raised their children, Kimberly and Vincent, to be joyful, accomplished, and compassionate adults. Their marriage of almost 50 years was a beautiful example of love, devotion, and strength, providing a lifetime of guidance to their extended family. To her son-in-law Matthew Barry and her daughter-in-law Kathleen Yglesias Houghton, Rae opened her heart and her home, welcoming them graciously into the family. She took great joy in her grandchildren, Devon and Patrick, and would just as easily join in a lightsaber battle as she would read them a book or teach them guitar. Her many, many friends loved her for her fierce loyalty as well as her zany sense of humor. Rae built a robust guitar program at Hammocks Middle School, where she taught for over a decade. To her students she instilled more than just a love of music; her respect and support carried over way beyond the classroom. A viewing and service will be held at 5pm on Friday, June 2 at Stanfill Funeral Home.

Houghton and his wife Judith of Marstons Mills MA, and Richard E. Houghton and his wife Janet of West Springfield. He also leaves five nieces and nephews and ten grandnieces and grandnephews. Kenneth will be greatly missed by his best friend Frank Bakes of Chicopee. There are no calling hours and services will be held at a later date, with burial in Hillcrest Park Cemetery.
