Theda T. Houghton 1919-2011 PITTSFIELD Theda T. Houghton, 91, formerly of Belvidere Ave. most recently of Providence Care Center in Lenox, passed away at Berkshire Medical Center. Born April 18, 1919 in Pawlet, Vt., the daughter of Schuylre E. and Maude Grace Hulett Towsley, she was a 1937 graduate of Bennington High School. Theda had twelve years on musical education playing the baritone and trumpet. She was employed for 2 years in the Draper Corp., and 26 years at Clarice's Corset Shop. Theda was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pittsfield. She was a member of the Ruth Miriam Circle, she enjoyed music tremendously and loved cats. Theda was predeceased by her husband Frederick E. Houghton whom she married September 7, 1946 he died March 4, 1993. She leaves her nephews Paul Towsley and his wife Edith of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Richard Towlsey and his wife Peggy of West Springfield, Mass., nieces Ann Stanton of Jennings, Fla., Jean Day of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., as well as numerous grand nieces and grand nephews. Special friends Barbara Pucko, Rosemay Carey and family, Violet Santo and Moses her special four legged friend. Theda was predeceased by two brothers Howard Towsley and Donald Towsley. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Theda T. Houghton will be held Monday, April 18, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Judith Kohatsu. Burial will be in the Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington, Vt. There will be an hour of visitation the day of the service from noon until the funeral at 1 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to Berkshire Humane Society care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. PEKIN -- Helen Frances Houghton, 91, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Pekin, died at 1:35 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1993, at

Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton.

Born Aug. 11, 1902, in Herring, Iowa, to William Henry and Margaret Calhoun Simon, she married James M. Hartnett in July 1930 in Springfield. He died Nov. 20, 1969. She married William F. Houghton in 1976, in Tampa, Fla. He died Oct. 5, 1989. She also was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Surviving are four sisters, Margaret Crampton of Fair Oaks, Calif., Dorothy G. Fairall of Fort Bragg, Calif., Mary S. Hewitt of San Ramon, Calif., and Marcella Lee of Santa Cruz, Calif; and one brother, Fred Simon of San Leandro, Calif.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bradenton, Fla.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. The Rev. Walter McNicholas will officiate. There will be no visitation. Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to her church.
