In commenting on the "Gilbert" family the writer mentions William Gilbert married Hannah Houghton, daughter of David Houghton (she would be Smith Houghton's sister), and then comments on all of David (and Anna Bryant) Houghton's children. He says, "7. Smith. born September 14, 1814, died at age of eighty-five years; married Catherine Wetherwax; children: James, Eli, David, Daniel, Andrew William, Jane Ann, Sarah, Dorcas."³

He was a radio disc jockey and had worked at WATR and WWYZ FM radio. He was also a community service officer for the New Britain Police Department.

He is survived by his mother, Nancy Sherman Houghton; a son, Matthew Houghton; a daughter, Christina Blum of Southington; two sisters, Debra DiCosimo of Southington and Lisa Williams of Kansas; and two brothers, Craig Houghton of Georgiaand Brett Houghton of Missouri.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N.Main St., Southington. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.²

Craig Houghton, born in 1957 in New Britain died Monday, May 17 in Columbus, Ga. Craig attended New Britain schools moving to Georgia in 1998.
Craig served in the Army and was stationed in Fort Benning training recruits to serve in the Gulf War. He was owner of H & H Services, Inc. in Columbus, Georgia.
Craig was the brother of Debra DiCosimo of Southington, Lisa Williams of Florida, Brett Houghton of Missouri and a half-sister, Pamela Migneault of Georgia. He was predeceased by his brother, Daryl Houghton of Southington and his parents, Richard and Nancy (Sherman) Houghton.
He leaves behind his wife, Robin Trahan; a daughter, Ciara of Hamden; and two sons, Joshua and Jaime of Columbus, Ga. Craig also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and a grandson. A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church in Southington on May 26, Published in The New Britain Herald from May 19 to May 24, 2021.
