John A. Houghton, 74, of 22 Chestnut St. passed away on Tuesday at his home. He leaves his wife, Shirley (Healey) Houghton; his children, John Jr. of Pensacola, Shelly Arsenault and her husband Ken of Ware; his brother, Herbert of Warren; his sisters, Jean Burnham and Barbara Morin of Warren, and Louise Dickinson of Brimfield; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son James.

He was born in Warren son of Edgar and Daisy (Kellweather) Houghton and was a long time Ware resident. He was an asbestos removal supervisor at Umass-Amherst. He was a communicant of All Saints Church, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. John was a 20 year veteran of the Ware Fire Dept. call force.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday from the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St. with a Mass at 10:30 a.m in All Saints Church. Calling Hours will be held on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Baystate Hospice, 50 Maple St. Springfield Ma. 01102, or to the Oncology Dept. of Wing Memorial Hospital, 40 Wright St. Palmer Ma. 01069

Warren - Herbert E. "Herbie" Houghton, 76, of Warren, died on Saturday, February 11, 2017, on his birthday, at Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in West Brookfield, surrounded by his family.

Herbert was born in Ware and resided in Warren all his life. He was a graduate of Warren High School, where he played on the baseball team. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps for four years, serving in Europe. Mr. Houghton worked for several area companies as a general laborer over the years.

He leaves behind his sisters, Louise Dickinson of Brimfield, and Jean Burnham and Barbara Morin of Warren; sister-in-law, Shirley Houghton of Ware, and several nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Edgar and Daisy (Keehlwetter) Houghton, and siblings, Henry, John, James and Catherine Carbonneau.

Herbie enjoyed having coffee and spending social time at the Warren Package Store, as well as reading and watching television. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan, and was happy that they won this year's Super Bowl.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 2 to 4PM in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main Street, West Brookfield. Burial with Military Honors will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery in Warren in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Warren Fire Department and Ambulance, P.O. Box 608, Warren, MA 01083.

ST. GEORGE, Utah--Delbert Linare Houghton, age 55, died Wednesday, January 8, 1992.

He was born December 30, 1936 in Santaquin, Utah to Delbert Lyman and Twila Johnson Houghton. He married Sandra Mae Thompson September 17, 1964 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Houghton was reared and educated in Santaquin, Utah. He also lived in Cedar City before coming to St. George in 1977. He was a member of the St. George Elks Lodge and a member of the LDS Church. He enjoyed mining and prospecting.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years; one son and one daughter, William Linare Houghton, Las Vegas, Nev; and Laura Mae Keefe, Santa Clara, Utah; also two grandchildren; two brothers, Norman Houghton, Salt Lake City; and Verl Houghton, Oregon.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 11, 1992, 11 a.m. in the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 W. St. George Blvd., where friends may call from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. T 1/9 N 1/9
