ObituaryJun 5, 2016Houghton , Charles F. Jr.

Charles ("Chuck") F. Houghton Jr. of Harrison, NY passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at the age of 64, following a very brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family at his death: his wife of 40 years, Molly, and his children, Emily, Elizabeth, and Tim and his wife, Jenny. He was the most wonderful husband and father, and his genuine kindness touched many.

Chuck was born in Bronx, NY in 1952, and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, NY. He later received a B.A. from Washington & Jefferson College and an M.B.A. from New York University. Chuck and Molly met during their freshman year in college and married in 1976.

Following a banking career that began at Irving Trust Company and ended with his retirement from Bank of America, Chuck devoted himself to a number of charities. He was Chairman of the Board of Cardinal McCloskey Community Services, an organization for at-risk children and families, where he had served on the Board for nearly 20 years. He was formerly on the board of the American Heart Association of Westchester County and volunteered for the New York State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, and remained a regular volunteer for the Westchester Cancer Support Team and Meals on Wheels at St. Vincent's Hospital.

In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his treasured in-laws, to whom he was a brother. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles; mother, Eve; and brother, Bob.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, June 5th from 2 pm to 6 pm at Graham Funeral Home in Rye, NY, followed by a Mass on Monday, June 6th at 10 am at Church of the Resurrection in Rye, NY.

Those who knew Chuck can appreciate that, in lieu of flowers, he would have wanted donations made in his name to Cardinal McCloskey Community Services2
