Agnes M. O'Day Houghton, 93, 8021 Bargain Road, and formerly of

Titusville, Florida and Cleveland, Ohio, died at home on Wednesday,

Aug. 2, 1995.

Born in Buffalo, N.Y., on Dec. 5, 1901, she was a daughter of the

late Reginald and Caroline Wharton O'Day.

She was employed in cosmetic sales for Gray Drug Store in

Cleveland, retiring in 1968 after 25 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Houghton.

She is survived by a son, Robert Houghton of McKean; two

granddaughters, Mrs. Thomas (Kris) Kitson of Erie and Susan Houghton of

Edinboro; two grandsons, Michael Houghton of Erie and James Houghton of

McKean; and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends are invited to a memorial service at the Scott Funeral

Home, W. 21st and Myrtle streets, on Saturday at 11 a.m., with the Rev.

John Malthaner of St. George Catholic Church officiating.

Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

ObituaryOct 24, 2012Erie, PA, USA, Robert G. Houghton, age 88, of East Stancliff Road, McKean, passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 at Edinboro Manor after a period of failing health. Born in Bradford, Pa. on June 5, 1924, he was the only child of the late Perry Gail Houghton and Mary Agnes Day Houghton. Bob lived most of his life in McKean, but first attended Strong Vincent High School and entered the United States Navy in 1942, serving until his discharge in 1945. He served on the USS Hatfield, patrolling the waters of the Northern Pacific during World War II. For many years Bob worked as a plumber, and he was employed by General Electric, retiring after almost 25 years. Bob was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and raising hunting dogs. After he retired, he traveled extensively around the country and to Nova Scotia. He was a charter member and past officer, including Quartermaster, of the Edinboro-McKean VFW Post 740. During his membership, he helped to establish the military honor guard. Preceding him in death was his first wife, Margaret Tokarczyk Houghton, who died in 1984; and an infant son, Mark Houghton. Family members that survive include his wife, Paulene Reese Shields Houghton, whom he married May 23, 1986; four children-- Michael J. Houghton and his wife Brenda of Erie, Susan A. Houghton-Ekelund and her husband Bob of Edinboro, Christine M. Kitson and her husband Tom of Erie, and James P. Houghton and his wife Debra of McKean; two step-children-- Judy Shields of Elk City, Okla. and Cora Bartosek and her husband Joe of Edinboro; and 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home, 306 Erie Street, Edinboro on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and the funeral service will be there Friday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Shelow officiating. Burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in McKean. The Houghton family wishes to thank the special caregivers at Edinboro Manor and Lakeland Hospice.

BurialApr, 2025James P. Houghton, 69, of McKean, passed away on March 3rd, 2025 at Quality Life, Grove City, after a short battle with Leukemia. Born in Erie on February 19, 1956, he was the son of Robert and Margaret Tokarczyk Houghton.

After growing up in the country side of McKean, he joined the U.S. Army and served at Fort Knox where he met his wife. They moved back to Erie where he was employed at General Electric as a Technical Specialist and was a union member until his retirement. He spent his time gardening, fishing and hunting with friends and family. He was a generous and friendly member of his community and will be missed.

He is survived by his brother, Michael Houghton, and sisters Christine Kitson and Susan Ekelund; his son James D. Houghton and wife Katharine, and grandchildren Nicholas and Evelyn Houghton. He was preceded in death by his wife Debra Houghton.

Friends may visit at Van Matre Funeral Home in Edinboro on Saturday, March 15th from 2:00 until time of a memorial service at 4:00 pm. Rev. Daryl Myer of Draketown Christian Church will officiate. A wake will follow at St. Francis Usher's Club in McKean. Condolences to www.vanmatrefuneralhome.com.

ObituaryMar 16, 1915Mrs. Bridget Houghton, one of the oldest residents of Lelperville, died at her home on Maddox street yesterday, allowing an illness of several months.
She was the widow of Jumes Houghton and enjoyed the acquaintance of a wide circle of friends who extend their deepest sympathy to the mem- bers of the family. Mrs. Houghton was an active member of St. Rose"of Lima Catholic church and was a member of several church organizations.
She is survived by the following children: Bernard. John, William, Charles, Mrs. James Willets, the latter a resident of Eddystone. The funeral wilt be held on Friday morning at 8 o’clock from her late residence. Solem Requiem Mass will be celebrated in the St. Ruse of Lima church and interment will be made in St. Michael’s cemetery. The members of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality and of the Sacred Heart Society connectcd with the church have been invited to attend the funeral.
