Albany Times Union: ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. Charles H. Houghton, 82, of Zephyrhills, Fla., formerly of Latham, died Friday, August 18, 2006 after a brief illness. He was the husband of Marilyn Houghton. Born and educated in Watervliet, he was the son of the late John H. and Lena Houghton. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Houghton resided in Latham from 1960 to 2001, when he moved to Florida. A lab equipment designer at SUNY Albany for 20 years, he retired in 1988. He previously was a machinist at the former Allegheny Ludlum Steel Company in Watervliet. Charles was a member of the Latham Community Baptist Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, David (Christine) Houghton of Niskayuna and Peter (Joyce) Houghton of Duanesburg; and three grandchildren, Eric (Shannon) Houghton, Amy Christine (Shaun) Breen and Stacy Lynn Nancy Houghton. He was predeceased by his daughter, Nancy Sullivan and brother, Walter J. Houghton. Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Bowen Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Friends are invited and may call 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment in Memory's Garden, Colonie. HOUGHTON, Maurice William Jr., 79, of Spring Hill, Fla., passed away peacefully at home Saturday, November 8, 2008. He was born in Manhattan, N.Y., and moved to Spring Hill 34 years ago. He was a retired Nassau County, New York police officer and a retired Hernando County school bus driver. He was an accomplished musician, avid golfer and a member of Spring Hill Men' s Golf Association and Nassau Blue. His loving wife of 30 years, Lorraine, preceded him in death. He is survived by his spouse, Eileen; son, John of Spring Hill; daughters, Joanne Simkins, and her husband, Frank, of Brookhaven, Pa., Nancy Avenbacher, and her husband, Kevin, of Gladstone, N.J., Carole Johnsen, and her husband, Eric, of Spring Hill; sisters, Patricia Brown and Barbara Houghton, both of Sacramento, Calif; grandchildren, Emily, Billy, Maddy, Lauren, Alivia, Kyle, Katie and Jake; niece, Leslie; and nephews, Chris and Bill. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, at Turner Funeral Homes Spring Hill Drive Chapel. A private inurnment will take place at Grace Memorial Gardens.
