Hartford, CT, USA, HOUGHTON. Carl J. Houghton, 67, of Andover, husband of Carol (Warner) Houghton, and son of the late Wlllard and Mary (Borden) Houghton, died suddenly Tuesday, April 6, 1993, at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Mr. Houghton was born June 9, 1925 in Halls Harbour, Nova Scotia, and came to the United States In 1949 settling in Manchester. He has been a resident of Andover since 1956. Mr. Houghton retired In 1987 as a Pipefitter after over 26 years with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft In East Hartford. He was a member of the Andover Congregational Church, Wooster Lodge No. 10 A.F. 8, A.M. In Colchester, Sphinx Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. in Hartford, Sphinx Omar Shrine Club In Manchester, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Lodge Council Chapter Valley in Hartford, and Consistory Valley in Norwich, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Nutmeg Forrest No. 116, Andover Grange No. 76, the National A.A.R.P. and the Andover Senior Citizens. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald and Marsha (Kaskela) Houghton of Hebron, Brian Houghton of Andover; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Philip Mayhew, also of Andover; three sisters, Joelien Lutz of Berwick, Nova Scotia, Phyllis Collins of Charlton, Mass., and Maxine Park of Peterborough, Ontario; six grandchildren, Donald Jr., Stephanie and Jacque-lyn Houghton, all of Hebron, and Tawnya, Jenna and Michelle May-hew, all of Andover; several cousins, Lota Horton, Joelien Sails-bury, Wilma Schlehofer; and many more in Nova Scotia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 10, 1993, 11 a.m., at the First Congregational Church of Andover, Route 6, Andover. Burial will be in the Town-send Cemetery Andover. Calling hours will be Friday 7-9 p.m., at The Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Memorial donations may be made to the Andover Volunteer Fire Department, 15 School Road, Andover 06232.
