Paul Wayne Houghton, 84, passed away November 29, 2006. He was a life long resident on Albuquerque. Paul was a 1940 graduate of Albuquerque High and attended UNM. He was involved in the Boy Scouts of America for 16 years, YMCA and Indian Guides for 9 years, ASQC, and also a graduate of the Air War College. He worked his way through his military career in the Air Force, starting off as a Buck Private in the Army Air Corp and retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, U.S.A.F. Paul is survived by his daughter, Florence K. Houghton and husband, Peter Anders of Los Alamos, NM; two sons, Paul W. Houghton Jr. and wife, Enong of Woodside, CA, and Woods Houghton and wife, Cindy of Carlsbad, NM; six grandchildren, Jannetta, Joshua, Jerimiah, Duston, Forrest, and Serena; along with other family members and friends. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Thursday December 7, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors, burial to follow with military honors at Sunset Memorial Park. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to The Ranch's of New Mexico, the Salvation Army, or to any of the Albuquerque Homeless Shelters. Arrangements are under the care and direction of: Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors 3113 Carlisle Blvd. NE 884-1188⁶

Elizabeth A. Houghton, age 78, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away April 6, 2003. Survivors include her husband, Paul Houghton of the family home; daughter, Kay Houghton and husband, Peter Anders of Los Alamos, NM; sons, Paul W. Houghton and wife, Enong of Woodside, CA, Woods E. Houghton and wife, Cindy of Carlsbad, NM; sisters, Virginia Willard and husband, David of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Jannetta Houghton, Joshua Houghton, Jeremiah Houghton, Dustin Houghton, Forrest Houghton and Serena Houghton. Elizabeth lived in Albuquerque since 1924 where Girard was the end of town at that time and as a child used to catch wild horses near the mountains. Elizabeth was a Methodist and was a past Honored Queen of Job's Daughter. She enjoyed restoring antique furniture and doing genealogy. Viewing and visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., with the family being present from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors. Services will be held 1:30 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2003 in the Chapel of Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors with Dr. Rev. Colin P. Kelly III officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.¹

Biography

Woods Houghton is a fourth generation New Mexican, born in Albuquerque and raised doing ranch and farm work. He received both bachelor's and master's degrees from New Mexico State University. He is a board certified entomologist by the Entomological Society of America and a certified crop advisor by the American Society of Agronomy. Woods' work experience includes twelve years as a county extension agriculture agent in Eddy and De Baca counties, eight years as a research assistant with NMSU, twenty-five years as a farrier (horse-shoer) and thirty years as a farm and ranch hand.²

JACKSONVILLE - Mrs. Eula Houghton, 81, of New Summerfield died at her home Friday night following an extended illiness. Funeral services are set for 4 p.m. Sunday in the New Emmanus Baptist Church with the Rev, Mr. Pepper officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery in Cherokee County under the direction of Thompson —Elliott Funeral Home.
Mrs. Houghton was a life-long resident of the area. Survivors include two sons. Herman Houghton and Doyle Houghton, both of New Summerfield: one daughter. Mrs. Ima Kennedy of New Summerfield; one brother. W. R. Murphy of New Summerfield: five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
