SPECIAL RANGER

Wilbur Price Allen was born September 26, 1879 in La Grange, Fayette County, Texas. he stood 5ft. 6in. tall, had gray eyes, brown hair and a fair complexon. I could not find who his parents were, but while he attended school in Austin, he lived with his uncle, George W. Allen, an attorney. Wilbur was married to Josephine Allen and had three children. He was a rancher in Hebbronville, Jim Hogg County, Texas. Wilbur enlisted in the Texas rangers as a SPECIAL RANGER from May 6, 1918 through February 1919, his rank being "High Private". Wilbur Allen, cattleman, owned Jesus Maria and La Josephina ranches in Jim Hogg County,Texas and lived at La Josephina. He was a partner in Allen and Allen law firm of Austin, Travis County, Texas. In August 30, 1919 he again enlisted as a SPECIAL RANGER and possibly served another two year term. Wilbur Price Allen died August 2, 1956 in Austin, Travis County, Texas and is buried in Austin.
