Knoxville, TN, USA, HOUGHTON, JEREME PAUL - born August, 8 1982, passed away on July 5, 2013 from a heart attack doing what he loved most, Rock Climbing. Jereme Houghton was a '01 graduate from Farragut High School and a Forestry Graduate from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. After 2 years of fighting fires in Colorado he relocated back to Knoxville, TN where he started and ran a tree service business. From his family, "Jereme had an immense affect on everyone he came in contact with. He loved everyone young and old, he will be greatly missed." He is survived by his parents Hoot & Kim Houghton and his siblings Jonathan Houghton, Jame Houghton, Jared Houghton, and Bethany Houghton. There will be a receiving of friends held at the Hardin Valley Church of Christ on Monday evening from 7:00-9:00 pm (address 11515 Hardin Valley Rd Knoxville, TN 37932).

James Albert Adcock, 83 of Taylorsville passed away March 5, 2015. He was a native of Spencer County and a member of the Spencer County Rescue Squad and former Co-owner of ACS Transmission.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty Adcock and son, Jimmy Adcock.

He is survived by daughters, Bonita Singleton and Tonya Adcock Chesser; sons, Ricky, Eddie and Mike Adcock; 18 grandchildren;17 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

His funeral service will be Noon Tuesday at Schmid Funeral Home with burial in the Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2-8 pm

ADCOCK, JAMES Sheridan SR., 57, of Louisville, passed away Friday, June 5, 2009 at the VA Hospital. He was an Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, LaVonda; a daughter, Missy; two sons, Carlo and Jimbo Adcock; a daughter-in-law, Connie; six grandchildren, Sheridan Ray, Ronnie III, Brittany, Brooke, Ashley and Craig; three great-grandchildren, Joseph, Jayden and Paityn; his father, James A. Research

William was playing in a pond and accidently drowned
9 Years 4 Months 11 Days Gone but not forgotten. He is the oldest boy of the Houghton children to Carl & Evelyn Houghton

Some of the information on the Death Certificate is hard to read and some facts are confusing.

Here is what it says about the death: Drowning Due To Accident Riding Raft & Upset.

There are 2 dates given that could be taken to mean it was the date he died. The following is what I was told by what I consider to be a reliable witness to some of the events following the drowning.

First it was more a Ponding of water due to poor drainage in that area than what most of us would think of as a pond. It was only there for a while after periods of a lot of rain fall in a short period of time.

For that reason the bottom of the pond was normally considered a part of what was called a commons or hobo jungle. The area was covered in small trees, brush, weeds, trash and junk of all sort.

When William fell from the raft he likely became entangle and couldn't escape. That also made it hard to recover his body. The water had to be pumped out first and that took 2 days. That is why there are what may mistakenly be seen as two death dates. He drowned on April 6 1945 and his body was found April 8 1945 so they didn't declare him dead until after the recovery of the body.

She was born on June 24, 1935 the daughter of the late Ambrose and Eleanor (Pelham) McDonald. She is survived by her four children, Donald White, Tioga Center, Ruth White, Tioga Center, Rhonda (Ken) Johnson, Sauquiot, NY, and Raymond (Diane) Houghton, Owego; one brother, Lloyd (Sally) McDonald; grandchildren, Robert Russell, Stacy Russell, Jessica Russell, Amber Johnson, Heather Wolczanski, Sarah Johnson, Kennie Johnson, Ashley Keelty, Kevin (Michelle) Doherty, Aimee Doherty, Daniel Doherty; eleven great-grandchildren and one niece, Rebecca Gallo.
