Mrs. Dora Thompson Haughton (1864-1956), 92, a resident of Palatka for 67 years, died last night at 8 o’clock at her home at 400 N. 4th Street where she had lived 58 years, after a long illness.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church with Rev. W. Pipes Jones officiating. Interment will be in the family plot in West View Cemetery under the direction of W. Carl Davis & Son Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were J. H. Millican, Archie Neck, J. Emmett Brown, Ralph Oliver, Frank J. Fearnside, J. A. Gibbon and Davis F. Dancy.
Mrs. Haughton was born in Keokuk, Iowa, Sept. 13, 1864, daughter of the late William and Emma Thompson. On Dec. 18, 1889 she married Joseph Husson Haughton in Fredonia, N.Y., and that year they moved to Palatka. One daughter, Dorothy, was born to this union and she died in 1922. Mr. Haughton died in 1950.
The deceased was a member off St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and was an active member of the Daughters of the King until a few years ago when ill health forced her retirement. She was also a charter member of the Palatka Woman’s Club in which she was most active for many years.
Survivors include one granddaughter, Mrs. Edward B. O’Hara, and one great-grandson, Merrill O’Hara, of Palatka; three nieces, Mrs. J. M. Harrell and Mrs. Morris B. Cochrane of Palatka and Miss Letitia Van Buren, New York City. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd Friday, 8 Nov 1956.)

"Dorothy" 88, of Plant City, passed away August 28, 2018. Born in Jacksonville, FL, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Pansy Houghton. Also preceding Dorothy in death are her siblings, Mrs. Margaret Sapp, Mrs. Mary Alice Blocker, and Richard Houghton Jr. Her survivors include her sister, Mrs. Carol Chancey and other beloved family and friends. Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Plant City and a member of Northside Baptist Church.

He was a retired longtime welder for Mobil Chemical Corp., Episcopalian, World War II Navy veteran and 50-year member of Fort Meade Masonic Lodge 60. He is survived by two daughters, Frances Braunbeck and Betty Altman, both of Bartow; two sisters, Elfrieda Sutherland of Naples and Mary Conner of Flowery Branch, Ga; a brother, Jimmie of California; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Elfrieda Houghton (Meme) Sutherland, 83, of Naples passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2005. She was a member of North Naples United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband George A. "Jock" Sutherland.
She is survived by her children: Lynda Sutherland Turner (Eugene C. Turner), Gayle Sutherland Durrance, George Alex "Rocky" Sutherland II, and Fred Richard Sutherland; grandchildren: Ryan Sutherland Turner (Megan Turner), Courtney Shane Sutherland (Crystal Sutherland), Kyle Collins Turner, George Alex Sutherland III, Jenna Tate Durrance, Julie Lynn Durrance, Alexis Suzanne Turner, and Warren Tate Sutherland; and great-grandchildren: Ryan Sutherland Turner II and Elena Grace Sutherland.
Elfrieda was a resident of Collier County since 1964 and was employed by the Collier County Tax Collector and Property Appraiser's Offices.
Visitation hours are from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 14, 2005 and a funeral service will immediately follow at the Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home at 1589 Colonial Blvd. Entombment will follow in the Memorial Gardens.¹
