     Gottlieb was born in 1850.7 Alternatively, he was born on 4 May 1850 in Germany according to the 1901 and 1911 census2,3,8 or on 4 May 1849 in Germany according to his death registration.5 Gottlieb married Amelia Kurtzweg on 22 January 1875 in Raglan Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada, according to Ontario Marriage Registration 008299.9,7,10,1,2,11,12,3
     He died on 10 October 1935 in Conc 18, Lot 33, Lyndoch Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada, according to Ontario Death Registration 029950.7,13 The informant on his death registration was his son, Samuel Berger. His father was identified as Gottlieb Berger Sr. He was the widower of Amelia Kurtzweg.13 J Gottlieb Berger was buried on 12 October 1935 in Rosenthal Wesleyan (formerly Zion Evangelical United) Cemetery, Brudenell, Lyndoch & Raglan Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada.7

     She died on 11 August 1930 in Cottage Hospital, Pembroke, Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada, at age 77 according to Ontario Death Registration 031026.6,5 The informant on her death registration was John Albert Schilkie.5 Amelia Kurtzweg was buried circa 17 August 1930 in Rosenthal Wesleyan (formerly Zion Evangelical United) Cemetery, Brudenell, Lyndoch & Raglan Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada.6,5
