Abimelech S. Arnold died on 7 September 1833 in Unadilla, Otsego County, New York, at age 70. Note: According to the DAR Patriot Index (page 72), he died on 7 September 1833 in New York.2,3 He was buried in Union Cemetery, Otsego County, New York.5


He was a private under Captains Trash, May and Wilmot, in Col. Cornwell's Regiment, Rhode Island troops in the Revolutionary War. He enlisted several times for short periods from Glocester, RI, in 1777 and 1778. By 1780, he had moved to Saratoga County, NY, where he enlisted in the New York militia in 1780 and 1781.4,6 His DAR Ancestor Number is A003208.

The age 20-30 male could be their son Ira, who would have been about 26. The age 20-30 female could be either Ira's wife or their daugher Lydia, who would have been about 27. The girls, ages 0-5 and 10-15, could be their granddaughters.12

His estate was probated on 28 January 1834 in Otsego County, New York, He died intestate.13
