Biography

Samuel R. Whitehead was born on 20 February 1844 in Rock County, Wisconsin.1

Samuel R. Whitehead may have married Fanny Bartlett, daughter of Elisha Williams Bartlett and Palmyra Lewis, between 1870 and 1875 in Newark, Rock County, Wisconsin. The Bartletts apparently came to Rock County, WI, around 1868 and were there in the 1870 census (in which Fanny appears with her parents). She apparently married Samuel Whitehead in Wisconsin after the 1870 census and then appraently divorced him before she returned to New York, is listed in the 1875 New York State Census and married Joseph Adams there in 1877, where she died in 1879. Samuel apparently later married Harriet Wade who apparently died before 1880, because Samuel is listed as a widower in the 1880 census, before dying in 1882.2

Samuel R. Whitehead and Fanny Bartlett were divorced circa 1874.
