Ebenezer Bullock, Sr., moved with
Christopher Bullock, Sr., and
Sarah Moulton from Cumberland, Providence County, Rhode Island, British Colonial America, to to Scituate, Providence County, Rhode Island circa 1756.
Ebenezer Bullock, Sr., lived in 1777 in Scituate, Providence County, Rhode Island.
9 He was a private in the Rhode Island militia in the Revolutionary War. Ebenezer was a pensioned soldier of the Revolutionary War. His Pension Number: S.29,047. On 16 October 1832 (when he would have been about 76 years old), he appeared before the court at Genesee County, New York. He deposed that he was a resident of Attica. He said he was born in Cumberland, Rhode Island, in 1757 [sic; actually 1756] and that he had lived in Royalston, Massachusetts, Brutus, Cayuga County, New York, and in Attica, Genesee County, New York, since the Revolutionary War. He said that he was very infirm and has become very forgetful, but he knew that he had served in the Revolution.
He said he was drafted at Situcate, Rhode Island, in December 1775 to guard the shore with the militia. He was discharged after one month. He was again drafted as a militiaman in 1776 and served at Warwick Neck, Rhode Island, for one month, and then again was discharged. He then entered the service in the Rhode Island Militia as a substitute for Christopher Bullock (probably his younger brother) and served one month, but did not remember the regiment.
About 1778, in the midst of haying time, he was drafted for an indefinite time to assist General Sullivan in his expedition against the British in Rhode Island. He was in the Battle of the Island from beginning to the end which was about the last of August 1778. He said he slept on the battleground that night and the next day the American army retreated to the mainland. He was discharged the 4th or 5th of September 1778.
Near the close of the war, he thought about 1780, he enlisted in Capt. Turtelot's Company. A Samuel Mury had enlisted for 15 months and deserted and, although the statements are hard to read, it appears that Ebenezer was expected to take his place. (Revolutionary War Pension Applications, Ebenezer Bullock Rhode Island, S29047).
