Pioneer Colton Banker, William O. Druffel, Dies
Colton, Wash. William O. Druffel, 68, pioneer Colton banker, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his home here early this morning [12 December 1962]. A former Whitman County Commissioner for 14 years, he was a past president of the Washington State Association of County Commissioners and a past vice president of the National Association of County Officials. At the time of his death, he was president of the Friends of the Washington State Library.

He served during World War I and was Company Commander of the Washington State Guard at Pullman [WA] during World War II. A past state vice commander of the American Legion, he also belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the 40 et 8.

Born Sept. 7, 1894, at Spokane, Mr. Druffel came to the Colton area in 1903. He was married May 17, 1920, at Pullman to Charlotte Hicks. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Gordon, Portland; two daughters, Mrs. R.I Settles of Mountain View, Calif., and Mrs. Frank Nesbit of Sacramento, Calif.; his mother, Mrs. Joseph Druffel, Colton: six brothers, George, Victor and Herbert, of Colton; Ted, Uniontown [WA]; the Rev. Henry Druffel, Collegeville, lnd. and the Rev. Henry Druffel, St. Louis, Mo.; three sisters, Mrs. R.I Settles of Mountain View, Calif., Dorothy Druffel of Colton, and Sister Adeline Mary, Spokane, and four grandchildren.2
