39 Paul and Inger Marie Sorensen lived in or near Hov, which is close to Sennels and Thisted in the northwestern area of Jutland, Denmark, known as Thy. They had 13 children, one of whom (Dorthe) died at age 3. Of the remaining 12 children, 9 emigrated from Denmark to America (Soren, Ane, Sidsel "Marie", Anton, Otto, Dortea, Nikoline, Dusenius, and Katrine). Only 3 (Maren, Christen and Elvine) remained in Denmark, and a number of their children later emigrated from Denmark to America. Six of them (Soren, Ane, Anton, Otto, Dortea and Dusenius) initially settled in Wahpeton, North Dakota. Soren, who was known as "Chris", apparently arrived there about 1880, Anton and Otto in June of 1891, Ane in October of 1893, Dusenius around 1896, and Dortea and her husband Niels Peter Simonsen in April 1898. Marie went to Bowbells, North Dakota, and then on to Junction City, Oregon. Nikoline (who emigrated with Anton and Otto on 12 May 1891) and Katrine (who emigrated on 5 May 1899), who married the Salmonsen brothers, settled in the Worcester, Massachusetts, area.
