Niels Peter and Dorthea (Poulsen) Simonsen and their two young children, Paul (born in 1894) and Inger (born in 1896), left Denmark on contract 20100, sailing from Kristiansand on 25 March 1898 on the ship Island [Norge?]. They arrived at Ellis Island on 7 April 1898, en route to Wahpeton, North Dakota, where Dorthea's siblings Soren (Chris), Anton, Otto and Ane (Anna) lived.
Note: Another source says that they first arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in 1898.

Simonsen, a native of Denmark, moved here 36 years ago from Wahpeton, N. D. He was a retired contractor.
Simonsen was a member of the Manatee Lodge 31 F&AM and Bradenton Lodge 16 IOOF.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Inger Lancaster, a son, Paul, Los Angeles, two grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be 3 p.m., Monday [27 August 1962], at Griffith-Cline Chapel with the Rev. Alfred Bixler officiating. Burial will be at Manasota Memorial Park. Graveside services will be conducted by members of Manatee Lodge 31 F&AM and Bradenton Lodge 16 IOOF.
