Mr. F. B. Houghton, Jr., of Maryville, MO, passed away Friday, September 25, 2009, at the Village Care Center, Maryville. F. B. was born in Dekalb, MO, on May 1, 1931, and had resided in Maryville since 1959. His parents were Floyd B. and Marzella Clary Houghton, Sr. F. B. was preceded in death by his father in 1992. A Navy Veteran, F. B. served from 1951 to 1955 as a Hospital Corpsman, serving during the Korean Conflict. He treated soldiers from the Navy, Marines, and Air Force. He graduated Maryville High School in 1949, F. B. later attended Northwest Missouri State University, the University of Kansas, and was a graduate of the UMKC School of Pharmacy, Kansas City, MO. For 50 years, F. B. and his wife Fran were the owners and operators of the Houghton's Nodaway Drug Store, and co-owners of the Hillside Pharmacy, both of Maryville. F. B. was a member of the St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Maryville, MO. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Other memberships include the Industrial Development Authority, the St. Francis Hospital Foundation, the Maryville Jaycees, the Greater Maryville Chamber of Commerce, and the U. S. Chamber of Commerce. F. B. was a past
president and member of the Maryville Country Club, and a member of the National Federation of Independent Business. F. B. was honored in 1992 by receiving the Community Service Award by the Missouri Pharmaceutical Association. In 1997, F. B. was recognized for his years of service to the Tobin Benefit Golf Classic in Maryville. F. B. is survived by his wife, Fran Houghton of the home; son, Kevin and wife, Megan Houghton, Overland Park, KS; mother, Marzella Houghton, Maryville, MO; three granddaughters, Tyler Houghton, Bolivia, NC, Lauren Houghton and Jeanine Houghton, both of Overland Park, KS; and several nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Monday, September 28, at the St. Gregory's Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Maryville. Military Rites at the cemetery will be conducted by members of the James Edward Gray, American Legion Post 100, Maryville, MO. The family will receive friends from 6- 8 p.m., Sunday, at the Bram Funeral Home. A parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the SSM Hospice, Maryville, or to the St. Gregory's Catholic Church School. The Bram Funeral Home of Maryville, Inc., is in charge of arrangements. HOUGHTON Frances Therese (Fran) Houghton, 83, of Maryville, MO, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 18, 2012 at her home. Fran was born on July 16, 1929 in St. Joseph, MO to Theodore and Senka (Lapychurch) Solonycze. She was a Benton High School graduate and later received her Associates Degree in St. Joseph. Fran was a resident of Maryville since 1959, and was the co-owner and business manager of the former Houghton's Nodaway Drug Store. She was a member of the St. Gregory's Barbarigo Catholic Church, the Maryville Country Club, was on the board of the Maryville Housing Authority, and had helped and volunteered with the Giving Tree at the St. Francis Hospital, all of Maryville. Fran was preceded in death by her parents; her husband F.B. Houghton, Jr. on September 25, 2009; brother, Bill Solonycze; 3 sisters, Mary Schall, and Ann Spillman, and Catherine Holtzclaw. Survivors include her son, Kevin and wife Megan Houghton, Overland Park, KS; 3 grandchildren, Tyler Houghton, Lauren Houghton, and Jeanine Houghton, all of Overland Park, KS; brother, John and wife Dixie Solonycze, St. Joseph, MO; sister, Cecelia and husband Keith Ashton, Ottawa Ontario, Canada; 3 nephews, and 2 nieces. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Friday, March 23, 2012 at the St. Gregory's Barbarigo Catholic Church, with burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery, both of Maryville. The family and parish prayer service and rosary will be at 6:00 PM Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, the visitation will follow until 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the St. Gregory's Barbarigo Catholic Church School, Maryville, MO.¹

Georgia Etta Houghton, 89, Altoona, died Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at Golden Living Center in Fredonia.

She was born June 16, 1920, in Freedom, Okla., to Earl and Etta Worley Bishop. She graduated from Freedom, Okla., high school. She received her licensed practical nursing training at Neosho County Junior College in Chanute and worked for several years at St. Margaret's Mercy Hospital in Fredonia.

On Oct. 23, 1941, in Woodward, Okla., she married George A. Houghton. He died on Feb. 2, 1994.

Georgia was a member of the Altoona United Methodist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Earl Houghton, Las Vegas, Nev., Jerry Houghton, Wichita, Dale Houghton, Altoona, and Kenneth Houghton, Wentzville, Mo; a daughter, Beverly Eastridge, Altoona; two brothers, the Rev. Marion Bishop, Cheney, and Bob Bishop, Wichita; two sisters, May Hartzell, Wichita, and Ruth Sullivan, Kansas City, Kan; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and three step-great-grandsons

She was preceded in death by a son, Laverle George Houghton; a daughter, Etta Lavone Houghton; three brothers, Earnest, William and Virgil Bishop; and two sisters, Naomi Holloway and Mary Clark.

Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Altoona United Methodist Church. Timmons Funeral Home, PO Box 168, Fredonia, KS 66736 is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Timmons Funeral Home.

Contributions to Altoona United Methodist Church or Asere Care Hospice may be sent to the funeral home.¹
