A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, in Evergreen Staples Funeral Home in Vancouver, Wash., for Charlotte K. Houghton, who died Jan. 27 at age 63.

Mrs. Houghton was born June 12, 1936, in Goble. Her maiden name was Kelly. She lived in Clark County since she was an infant, graduated from Vancouver High School and attended Clark College. She worked in real estate for about 12 years. She married Joe Houghton in 1974.

Survivors include her husband; daughters, Susan Gonzoroski, Neitha Wilkey, Pamela Phillips and Teresa Unger; sons, Mark Burgess, Greg Burgess and James; sisters, Ethel Kohler, Olive Banks, Verna Meyers and Edna Thurston; brother, Robert Kelly; and 10 grandchildren.

Interment will be in Park Hill Cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to Hospice Southwest.¹

Pauline E. Houghton, 71, of 25 Eagle Drive, died Thursday morning at her home, where she was under the care of Lewis County Hospice.

While living in Monroe, Mrs. Houghton was a telephone operator at Highland Telephone.

Born Nov. 4, 1928, in Ricard, a daughter of Harry L. and Lydia Helbock Archibee, she was a 1946 graduate of Pulaski Academy.

She married Donald R. Houghton on Jan. 11, 1948, at First Baptist Church, Carthage, with the Rev. Earl E. Chanley, pastor, officiating.

Mrs. Houghton was a volunteer for Girl Scouts of America in Carthage and Monroe. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting.

Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Mrs. George (Julie) Shafer, West Monroe; two sisters, Mrs. John (Alice) Walker, Syracuse, and Anita Leana, Brantingham; two grandsons, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Three brothers, Arnold, Lee and Donald Archibee, died before her.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Virkler-Percoski Funeral Home, Lowville, with the Rev. John A. Shuck, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Lowville, officiating. Spring burial will be in Brantingham Cemetery.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, N.Y. 13367.¹

He retired as chief chemist from the state of New Hampshire; was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Lebanon; and a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Surviving are his wife, Elizajane C.K. Kemmerer Houghton; a son, the Rev. Philip G. of Weston, W.Va; two daughters, Jean Clark of Bremerton, Wash., and Deborah Houghton of Wilmington, Del; two stepsons, Karl Schaeffer of Philadelphia and David Schaeffer of Edgartown, Mass; a brother, Philip S. of Charleston, S.C; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in her church. Burial will be in Nisky Hill Cemetery, Bethlehem.

There will be no viewing.

Born in Bethlehem, PA on December 15, 1915 she was the daughter of the late Cleveland R. and Amelia Chatten Kemmerer. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Bethlehem and a former member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church, Lebanon, PA. She was a retired librarian. Elizajane is survived by her sons: Karl Schaeffer, Philadelphia; David Schaeffer, Hyannis, MA; six grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. Private memorial services will be held in Trinity Episcopal Church, Bethlehem. Interment will be held privately in Nisky Hill Cemetery, Bethlehem.
