PERRY, Okla. Helen M. Houghton, 86, formerly of Winfield, died Nov. 24, 2003, at the Perry Nursing Care Center in Perry, Okla.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Tisdale United Methodist Church. Friends may call at the church from 11:30 a.m. to service time. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with the Tisdale United Methodist Church.

Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Houghton was born April 11, 1917, in Powell, Wyo., to Ifa (Porter) and Vernon Brothers. Her family moved to Winfield where she graduated from Winfield High School and attended Southwestern College.

On June 15, 1945, she married Alfred J. Houghton in Tisdale.

A homemaker, she was a member of Tisdale United Methodist Church and the Tisdale Womens Society of Christian Service.

Her husband died Dec. 27, 1978. After living in Winfield most of her life, she moved to Perry to be close to family.

Survivors include a son, Arlan Houghton, Perry; a daughter, Muriel Elder, St. Joseph, Mo., a sister, Ruth Tredway, Chanute; and eight grandchildren.

He graduated from high school and was a mill worker. His interests included lock-smithing and he enjoyed spending time with his children.

Survivors include his mother of Winston; a son, Dustin, of Winston; a daughter, Breanne Houghton of Winston; a brother, Jerry of Lake Havasu, Ariz; and four sisters, Karen and Jennifer of Roseburg, Debbie of Springfield, and Brandi of Washington.

Reno, NV, USA, Joan S. Houghton, 83, of Carson City, died Sunday April 27, 2003 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Carson City.

Joan was born on November 2, 1919 in Boston, MA to F. Peter and Barbara Brown of West Kirby, England (near Liverpool). A Nevada resident of 56 years, she met and married James Vincent Houghton of Luning, NV, in June 1947 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. They became Carson City residents in 1953.

Mrs. Houghton was very active in numerous community activities. Den mother for Boy Scouts, PTA member, volunteer at Friends in Service Helping, member of Proscenium Players, celebrated monthly birthdays at Carson Convalescent Center, served communion at Nevada Cares, volunteered at Carson-Tahoe Hospital for over 45 years for which she received commendation from the Queen of England, and an active and long-time member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.

Joan is survived by son Peter of Koh Samui, Thailand, son and daughter-in-law Roy and Pamela Houghton of Carson City, NV, son and daughter-in-law Patrick Houghton and Judy Gordon of Vancouver, WA; grandchildren Adam Houghton, Sarah Billings and her husband Josh of Carson City, NV, Elise McClain of Ft. Bragg, NC and David Eagle of Sandpoint, ID; and one great granddaughter Natasha McClain.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 3, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Joan Houghton Memorial Fund at St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

PATRICK "PAT" SEAVER HOUGHTON
December 6, 1953 ~ July 27, 2014

Pat Houghton, 60, passed away after a short struggle with kidney cancer at his home in Vancouver, WA. He was born in Carson City, NV to James Vincent and Joan Houghton. He graduated from Carson High School in 1971 and attended the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
Pat was an outgoing, gregarious man, and avid baseball fan. He loved the outdoors and spent time cross-country skiing. Pat's love of the outdoors lead him to work involving natural resources: at both McMurdo and South Pole Stations in Antarctica unloading C-130s; with the California Ecology Corps on the Pacific Crest Trail; in the Alaska Department of Fish and Game's Sport Fish and Habitat Divisions; and in wildfire management for Alaska Fire Service (Fairbanks) and the interagency Northwest Coordination Center in Portland, OR. After leaving the NW Coordination Center in 2007, he volunteered for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, then the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site Visitors Center until his death.
Pat is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Judith Ann Gordon; twin brother, Roy and his wife, Pamela Houghton of Carson City; older brother, Peter of Thailand; niece, Sarah and her husband, Josh Billings and their children of Carson City; nephew, Adam Houghton and his wife, Anna of Reno, NV; niece, Elise McClain, U.S. Army Tampa, FL and her children; nephew, David Eagle of Noxon, MT; mother-in-law, Naomi Gordon of Neptune, NJ; and his sister-in-law, Danielle Gordon of Princeton, NJ.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sept. 27 at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site Visitors Center.
Donations may be made to the Oregon Humane Society in honor of Patrick.
