Deceased Name: Houghton, Dorothy L.
ALBANY Dorothy (Lansing) Houghton, 90, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Glens Falls Hospital. Born in Albany and a graduate of Albany High School, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Gertrude (Smith) Lansing. Mrs. Houghton was an executive secretary for Mobil Oil Corpora-tion at the Port of Albany for over 30 years, retiring in the 1970s. She had a great love for children and enjoyed having lunch with the children of St. Matthew School. She was a devoted life-long member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church where she was actively involved in many ministries including the Altar Guild, Ladies Aid, and served as Sunday school superintendent. Mrs. Houghton was a member of the Mobil Retirees. She was predeceased in 1998 by her beloved husband of 50 years, Kenneth Houghton. Survivors include her cousins, Linda Grant of Lake George who was also Dorothy's goddaughter, Lois Martin of Van Rensselaer Manor, Robert Smith of Albany and Joan Smith of Stoneybrook; her cousins children, Kindra (Jim & Karli) Chamberlin of Gansevoort, Katilynne (Mike, Brett & Brendon) Sarnowski of Scotia who was also Dorothy's goddaughter and Chip (Remi) Grant of St. Petersburg, Fla; her godson, Rev. Jonathan Gray of Albany. Funeral services will be held Saturday 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Norman E. Dascher Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Avenue on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands. Memorial contributions in Dorothy's memory may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 75 Whitehall Rd., Albany, NY 12209.

ALBANY -- Kenneth R. Houghton, 83, died Wednesday, February 18, 1998 at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Blooming Grove, NY, educated in Rensselaer, Mr. Houghton lived in Albany most of his life. He was a Word War II Army veteran with the Corps. of Engineers serving in the Italian Campaign. Mr. Houghton worked as a tractor trailer driver and dispatcher for Mobil Oil Corp. for 32 years retiring in 1976. He was a former member of the retired Men's Group and served as a dedicated elder and member on various committees at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Lansing Houghton; many dear relatives and friends. Funeral services Saturday, 10:15 a.m. from the Norman E. Dascher Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. and 11 a.m. at St. Matthews Lutheran Church. TAMPA — Graveside services for Mrs. Alice M. Houghton, age 85, of 6912 N. 20th. SL, will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Orange Hill Cemetery, with Dr. Earl J. Tharp, pastor of Livingston Ave. Baptist Church officiating and assisted by Rev. Wayne W. Oeffler, pastor of New Orleans Baptist Church. Survivors include: daughter, Mrs. Donald G. Sellers, Tampa, son, Winston R. Houghton, Lake Worth, Brother, Guy M. Mann, and sister, Miss Ethel Mann both of Georgia, grandchildren, Mrs. Patricia Britt, Mrs. Ruth Garrett, Miss Kathleen Houghton all of Lake Worth, Frederick A. Houghton III, Tampa, and Richard Britt Jr., of Lake Worth. Mrs. Houghton was a retired LPN and worked at Centro Asturiano Hospital for 20 years.
