Elizabeth "Eliza" Thompson Macqueen b. 4 Aug 1814 in Clackmannan, d 1884 or 1885 in England; she is the only one of the children who reached adulthood who stayed in Great Britain. She married John Brown Hill in 1838 in Clonmel; they moved to the London area.

ResearchA McQueen researcher: Kathryn Graehl: kagraehl@gmail.com -- 901-355-4862 cell
BiographyThe 1850 Census lists only one McQueen family in Circleville, OH. This was the birth place of Susan Weaver Troup (second wife of Joseph Troup), whose mother was Margaret McQueen. Helen McQueen was Joseph Troup's third wife. I am guessing that the McQueen family found in this census with James as head of house were brothers and sisters, and that the Helen found there was Margaret's sister and listed as age 30. Both parents born in Scotland per 1880 census of Helen.

This James Macqueen (1789-1846) managed a distillery--that's why he moved from Scotland to Ireland sometime between 1816 and 1826. The owners were Murray and Stein of Scotland. There were McQueens (also spelled McQuin) in Alloa who were maltsters and brewers in Drysdale Street, Alloa, in 1841; I'm imagining they were relatives but haven't looked further. The family's immigration to Ireland was probably 1825 or 1826; the older children of James Macqueen and Mary Nairn were born in Scotland and the rest in Ireland.
James is buried in Marlfield (see findagrave # 188914646). He has a large stone very close to the church door. I've added a photo to his findagrave page. He supposedly died of "inflammation of the bowels or bilious colic"; daughters Mary and Martha are listed on the same marker.

BiographyMcCoy: "Sally appears as Sarah Uran in several deeds after the death of Jonathan Uran in Washington Co., NY. She is Sarah J. Uran in the 1850 census. There is a Nathaniel Havens family in Pawlet in 1800 census (20010/21010), and a Lyman Havens in 1820. The name is found in other Rutland Co towns (Clarendon, Orwell, Sudbury, Mt. Holly). Several references in family and official material show Sally S. Uran. Death record notes she had lived in IL for 24 years, so from this record we would place her move from NY to IL at about 1858. Obituary, Kankakee Gazette, Thursday 29 jun 1882: "Died in this city, at the residence of her son, Jonathan Uran, June 24, 1882, of dropsy of the hears, Mrs. sally S. Uran in the 93rd year of her age."
"Sally S. Haven was born in Brattleboro, Vermont. Oct. 4, 1789. In the year 1800 when eleven years of age she removed with her parents to Pawlet, Vt. at which place in 1807 she was married to Jonathan Uran, she being at the time eighteen years of age. By him she had a family of thirteen children, eight sons, and five daughters, six of whom, three sons and three daughters, are now living to mourn her loss, with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. With her husband and family she removed to Rupert, Vt. in 1824 and in 1828 to Hebron, N.Y. and here she spent thirty years of her life as many other mothers of a large family in those early days spinning and weaving with her own hands all the dresses and clothing worn and used by the family.
"In 1843 her husband died and in 1854 she came west to make her home with her eldest son Jonathan Uran, who was one of the early Pioneers of Illinois, having settled on the Kankakee River in the year 1837. With him she made her home till the time of her death, excepting about six years that she spent with her children in Iowa.
"Although she was of a strong and rugged constitution and enjoyed the best of health until about one year ago, she was obliged to use a chair in moving about for over thirty years in consequence of a fractured limb caused by a fall on the ice.
"She retained her mental faculties perfectly up to the last moment and possessed a memory of unusual accuracy and wonderful power. She was a great reader of the newspaper of the day and could see readily without the aid of glasses.
"She was converted and united with the Christian Church in 1838 and remained firm in her faith. Her Bible was her companion and the well worn leaves of her old family Bible which she had possessed these many years bear strong evidence of a yearning for the truth contained therein.
"Funeral services were held at Mr. Uran's residence on Friday afternoon, Rev. Mr. Axtell officiating. The remins were then conveyed to the Van Meter Cemetery followed by a long procession of old settlers."
Family records from descendants of William James Uran note that Sally Smith Haven was named after her aunt Sarah (Sally) Haven Smith, wife of Richard Smith, Jr. of Hopkinton, MA. This would have to be her great-aunt Sarah Haven, sister of Clarke Haven."

Per 1870 census, was living with son Jonathan in July 1870 in Bourbonnais, as well as in 1880 census, age 90. Died at 92; lived with Aunt Addie Uran's family.
