Mrs. Houghton, 79, died Dec. 20, 2000, at a local hospital. She worked in day care for more than 40 years.

Mrs. Houghton was born Dec. 11, 1921, in Bell City, Mo., to Thomas and Mary Melinda Hill, who are deceased. She was married in 1960 to Art Houghton, who is deceased.

She is survived by three sons, David Lucas, Jerry Lucas and Ken Lucas; two brothers, W.C. Hill and W.D. Proctor; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lucinda Mae Clack; four brothers; and a sister, Gladys Proctor.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday with services at 1 p.m. at Nolan Funeral Home, 225 N. Weber St., 632-7608. Burial will be private.¹

Born in Chicago in 1900, raised in Oak Park, a Class of 1922 graduate of Wells College, she married and lived in England for 52 years before returning to LaGrange. Past President of P.E.O. Chapter BI, she was an active member of her community, an avid gardener, with warm greetings for all around her. She is survived by two children, six grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren.
