Born April 11, 1945, in Auburn, he was the son of the late Paul Delbert and Magdalene Gladys (Conner) Houghton. He married Betty Mae Allman on May 5, 1985, in Montpelier, Ohio. He worked as a tool & die maker for General Electric for 40 years. He was a member of Auburn Presbyterian Church, the church choir, Smock Senior Ministries, was a former elder of the church, was a member of GE Apprentice Alumni, GE Retirees Club, and the Quarter Century Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family and had a passion for photography. Since his retirement, he enjoyed working at the "Friends" table at the church. Surviving are his wife, Betty Houghton of Auburn; son, Timothy Houghton of South Bend; daughters, JoLynn (Jim) Conley of Waterloo and Heather Houghton of Auburn; two grandsons, Travis and Tyson Conley; brother, David (Barb) Houghton of Fort Wayne; and sister, Nanci (Raymond) Carnahan of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by a sister, Miriam Dawn Houghton, in 1934. Service is 11 a.m. Friday, with calling one hour prior, at Auburn Presbyterian Church, 111 W. 12th Street, Auburn. Pastor Lyle Ewing and Pastor Bill Haworth officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Auburn. Memorials to DeKalb County Humane Society, 5221 US Hwy 6, Butler, IN 46721 or Auburn Presbyterian Church Choir, 111 W. 12th St. Auburn, IN 46706. He was a past member of Rochelle Park Knights of Columbus #2842, AICPA, New Jersey Society of CPA's and Treasurer of the Damstadt Group. He was an Army veteran who served our country proudly during the Cold War and he was a parishioner of Sacred Heart RC Church in Rochelle Park, NJ.
Dear husband of Frances (nee Loughrey). Beloved father of Claire Kiel and her husband Michael of North Haledon, Regina Deible and her husband Dan of Annandale, VA, Colonel Richard Houghton and his wife Camille of San Antonio, TX, Christopher Houghton and his wife Libby of Lakeland, FL and Joseph Houghton and his wife Eileen of Colorado Springs, CO. Loving grandfather of thirteen grandchildren. Beloved brother of Giles Houghton and his wife Angela of Clifton and Patricia Dunne and her husband Roger of Myrtle Beach, SC. Predeceased by his brother Walter John Houghton.
Funeral Service Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 10 AM at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, S-113 Farview Ave., Paramus, followed by a 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, Rochelle Park. Interment George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Family will receive friends Monday, February 6, 2012 from 2- 4 PM and 7- 9 PM .

ObituaryGilbert Wayne Griffith, 77, Cramer, PA died at home on Thursday, April 30, 2009 surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). Gilbert was born in Cramer on November 26, 1931. He was married to Marian (Houghton) on September 1, 1951. He was the beloved father of Jaculyn married to John LoPresti, Luther, MT; RoseMary, Pittsburgh, PA; Joseph married to Kelli (Heming), Cramer, PA; and Joanne, Pittsburgh, PA. He was also much loved by his grandchildren Jennifer Rigard (LoPresti) married to Ryan, Bozeman, MT and Adam LoPresti married to Diana (Sletten) of Luther, MT. He was preceded in death by his wife, mother and father, Joseph F. and Lillian R. Griffith, brothers Richard, Donald, and James, and sister, Jocelyn (Adams). Survived by brother David married to Patricia (Hall) of Cramer, PA and sisters Betty married to James Leaman, Lancaster, PA and Sandra Griffith, Johnstown, PA, and sister-in-law Barbara (wife of James). He served in the Army as an MP during the Korean War, retired from Bethlehem Steel’s Freight Car Division of Johnstown. His many hobbies included woodworking, working on his computer, target shooting, building and flying model planes, and visiting with his nieces, nephews and all his friends. He was known for his smile and his undaunted spirit. Family and friends will be received at the Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia St., Armagh on Saturday, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be at the funeral home on Sunday, at 2:00 p.m. with hospice Chaplain Adam Kravets, interment to follow at the Armagh Cemetery . Military rite by local veteran’s organization.
