Willis Houghton, 98, of State Highway 30, Amsterdam, NY, passed away Thursday morning, February 23, 2012, at River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam. Born in Medway, NY, on June 29, 1913, he was the son of the late Stephen H and Florence Ann Lillis Houghton. Willis was a graduate of Schenectady High School, Class of 1932. Willis was an Arc and Mig assembly welder, reading from blue prints, part of which was contracted by the United States Navy for General Electric Company in Schenectady, NY. He was an honorably discharged United States Air Force veteran, stationed at Mitchell Field, Long Island from 1932 to 1934 Willis was a member of the Saving Grace Baptist Church in Fonda, NY. His first wife, Edna Lindstead Houghton, predeceased him on December 17, 1996. Rena M. Ahnert Houghton, whom he married on July 22, 1967, predeceased Willis on July 26, 2010. He is survived by one son, Carroll W. Houghton of Saratoga Springs, NY; one daughter, Dale F. Roach (Allen) of Lowville, NY; two stepsons, Carl Ahnert (lynne) of Canastota, NY, and Gerald Ahnert (Betsy) of Syracuse, NY; four grandchildren, David (Ann) Ahnert, Teresa Follett, Christopher (Melissa) Houghton and Jason (Lynn) Houghton; three great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Willis was also predeceased by one sister and one brother. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park and Garden in Schenectady, NY. Calling hours will be held from 9:30 to 11 prior to the funeral service at the Riley Mortuary. Ruth (Fred) Ban- of Montour Falls, NY, survives Mrs. Brown; 17 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; and niece, Janet Green. Mrs. Brown was predeceased by her first husband, Alfred Clark Sr; son, Alfred Clark Jr; daughters, Mary Moore and Betty Crane; and her second husband. Nelson Brown. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY on Monday, August 9, 2010, from 1-3 p.m. Her funeral and committal service will be held following visitation at 3 p.m. with Rev. Sheila Price to officiate. Interment in Second Milo Cemetery at the convenience of the familv.

Miss Roberta Houghton, 48. of Ithaca R.D. died at Tomp kins County Hospital Sunday, April 23. 1967, after a long illness. She was bom in Ithaca, daughter of Mrs. Leeta C. Houghton of Ithaca, and the late Charles E Houghton. She attended Ithaca High School and was graduated from Northfield Seminary with honors in 1935. Miss Houghton attended Cornell University, where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority, and received the B.S. degree from University of New York in Cortland in 1942. She taught school in Tompkins County and, from 1946 to 1956, in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Miss Houghton was one of the first members of Polar Bear Club of Taughannock Park. In addition to her mother, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Betty H. McHale of Ithaca and Miss Virginia L. Houghton of Syracuse; a brother, Charles E. Houghton of Ithaca; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Burial will be in City Cemetery.

Elizabeth C. Houghton passed away on March 14, 2006 at St. Cabrini Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry, NY. She was 96 years old. Elizabeth was born on November 5, 1909 in New York, NY to Katherine Louise Carey and Walter Saint John Houghton, II. Ms. Houghton attended Mount St. Ursula High School in the Bronx, NY and College of New Rochelle were she graduated in 1931. Ms. Houghton was a school teacher at the Greenvale Grammar School in Eastchester. She retired in the late 1970's after forty five years of teaching at Greenvale. Ms. Houghton was also a Girl Scout Brownie Troop leader in Eastchester. She had the gift to make all of her pupils feel very special. Ms. Houghton is survived by two nieces Edith B. Warren and Marion L. Houghton. Also surviving are two grand nephews Gavin and James Warren. She is predeceased by a sister Katherine Houghton and a brother Walter Saint John Houghton III. Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday 9:30 AM Our Lady of Fatima Church, Scarsdale. Interment Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn. Visiting hours Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.
