Eugene F. Houghton "Pop" Age 85 of Newark, DE passed away on Monday, December 13, 2004.

Born March 18, 1919, Pop was a lifelong resident of Wilmington. Pop started his career as an electrician at Pusey & Jones before joining the City of Wilmington Fire Department in 1945 and retired in 1965. He then worked for Hercules and Rollins Truck Leasing. Pop is survived by his 2 sons and their wives, Eugene W. and his wife, MaryLou, and Thomas F. and his wife, Marti; his grandchildren, Dennis E., Dina M., Steven M. and Joseph M. Houghton; and his 4 great grandchildren, Samantha, Sarah, Kayla and Matthew Houghton. He is also survived by his niece, Marie Fleming, who helped with his care; and by a very special and devoted friend, Margaret Holahan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Tessie M. (Lepkowski) Houghton, in 1998. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Friday, December 17, at 1:30 pm at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Limestone Rd., Pike Creek, where friends may call after 12:30. Burial will be in Cathedral Cemetery.¹

Wilmington - Dennis Eugene Houghton, 51 of Wilmington, DE passed away suddenly on January 23, 2019. Dennis is preceded in death by his 3 uncles, Paulie, Jimmy, and Jody.

Dennis was a father to Samantha, Sarah, Kayla and Matthew. Dennis is also survived by his mother and father Mary Lou and Eugene Houghton, sister Dina Welcher and his grandchildren, Ava, Adam and Austin.

He graduated from Delcastle Technical High School and also attended Del Tech. He worked as a driver for UPS, and more recently was interested in becoming a pastor. He enjoyed playing soccer, and was an avid reader, and found peace in helping others.

A visitation will be held on Monday January 28th, 2019 from 3-5pm, with funeral services beginning at 5pm at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808.
