Martin Luther & Jemima Colegrove Haven were among the first settlers of Norwich Township and reared a family of eight children, all of whom were living in 1890 [History of McKean County]. They came in 1819 from Chenango County, NY to a tract of land on Potato Creek in Norwich Twp, near Smethport. In 1847, they moved to Illinois [History, p. 362,441]. During his residence in Norwich Twp he paid 1/3 of the entiresum raised for educational purposes. Their children in 1890 were all living and were between 61 and 73 years old.²
