When age 11 Lemuel Crane went to live with the family of Samuel Dunbar, minister of the parish, and continued for 7 years. Early in 1776, he went to Dorcester. A soldier in the company of militia detailed to guard the troops of General Burgoyne when the prisoners were in Cambridge. In 1782 he got land. Collector 1790; selectman and assessor, 1793 to 1803/4/5. Repres. to the General Court. Taught the first school established in the neighborhood, from 1790 to 1797.²

PA, USA, with six sons and one of two daughters; Charles Haven: "We came on two sleds, one drawn by a pair of horses, the other by two heavy yoke of oxen. We found good sleighting the whole distance. One horse team made the trip in fifteen days, the oxen team took eighteen days. My father and two brothers came the year before, summer of 1814, bought a possession and built a log house. Chopped and cleared five acres and sowed wheat...This was harvested the first summer. Also chopped, cleared and sowed to wheat ten acres near the Haven schoolhouse and as far south as a row of apple trees that Nahum Haven planted. Our nearest grist mill was Long's Mill near Troy, PA., nine or ten miles distance. Nearly all the way was woods."²
