    Stricken ill while on shipboard and on duty with the United States Navy, Chief Pharmacist's Mate Francis Patrick Humphrey, 42, a veteran of 23 years service, died Sunday. He was for a time a patient in a hospital in New York City and later was taken to the Marine Hospital in Buffalo, where he died.

    A native of Montezuma he graduated from Weedsport High School, where he was active In athletics. He joined the navy at the age of 19. He was a son of Mrs. Catherine Humphrey of Centerport. Also surving are his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Morris Humphrey; three sons, Francis, Jr., Thomas R. and David M. Humphrey, and a daughter, Miss Dorothy Humph­rey, all of Portsmouth, N. H.
